I just noticed that both Warhammer Quest games (Silver Tower and Shadows of Hammerhal) and both Horus Heresy games (Battle of Calth and Burning of Prospero) are either no longer to be found on the GW site or are listed as sold out online. Have they been discontinued?

Sorry if this was already mentioned in another thread recently, I couldn't find it anywhere.

This is probably to do with their warehouse issues. With 7 big boxed games released this year alone, I could imagine they have been discontinued. The big question is whether it is permanent or not. Personally I doubt it. Space Hulk has come back a number of times.

I took a look at the german page and I can confirm that they are no longer available. Quite a shame, I planned to get both WHQ boxes for the holidays.

With boxed games I assume they only do one production run. That's the business model most board game manufacturers follow.

Probably just restocking on cardstock or something if I had to guess. It would be a shame to see a good source of cheap HH marines go away though...

All gone from the Oz site as well. Just the adversary cards and character boxes remain.

They posted on a community post this morning and said that the HH games are officially no longer being made.

The HH games won't be available for a while. They may get discontinued. I agree that BaC and BoP could also return the way Space Hulk did.

I heard from several (trustworthy) people who attended recent Warhammer Fest in Dusseldorf (Germany) that FW plans to expand the HH plastic range - so more, new models may be on their way.

Thanks, that's pretty clear. I suppose that 30k Ahriman and the Space Wolf model would be released separately once this expanded HH plastic range hits the scene. They're the only ones not available right now, everything else is still there (apart from the games themselves, of course).

Regarding WHQ, that's good news. If found it odd they would discontinue them after they just announced 40k Quest, and the recent WHQ articles in White Dwarf.

Good thing I got like 4 or 5 Calth boxes over the years.

Now to build them...

TLDR the HH games are now "out of print" and the Warhammer Quest stuff being removed is just a glitch on the webpage.

I'm not really suprised by the HH stuff, they are an amazing deal, perhaps too good of one,

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Funny, I thought GW did just a short run - hadn’t realized they were kept in print for a while.

Bah, the new WHQ was a big dissapointment, a far cry from the real stuff. Here hoping that blackstone fortress has more meat than that.

A year ago, I would have said that the chance for it to be a complex game were nil, but necro shown that GW can still produce some games that have depth

The new WHQ > old WHQ. The big difference is that the new one is playable, and not a ten hour slogfest fighting randomly generated monsters because you happened to roll 1 a couple times in a row with your wizard. Rose tinted glasses are the worst with old WHQ. Another big difference is playing new WHQ is actually enjoyable, whereas the old WHQ had enjoyable roleplay and town phase elements, but the core system was garbage.

Probably just a single print run (of the paper and card materials, anyway - the miniatures are easier to manufacture as required), which is now gone.

let's just say that a discussion on this subject between us is a waste of time, since it's obvious were not looking for the same things in a game.

If memory serves part of the business model for AOS sets was to only make them available for X amount of time, rotating shelf stock. This could be that practice coming to roost in other boxed sets.

www.classichammer.com

For 4-6th WFB, 2-5th 40k, and similar timeframe gaming

Looking for dice from the new AOS boxed set and Dark Imperium on the cheap. Let me know if you can help.

Makes sense to run down stocks of games after a couple of years of release, given the sales pattern will be ‘slow crawl at best’ rather than ‘fly off shelves’, instead of investing in tens of thousands of new copies (minimum card print runs) with approximate sell-through time of ‘never’.

GW is no longer that company where “ooh I might get that someday” gives you a twenty-year window in which to do so!
