I am quite new to 40K and this weekend I am going to play some games, probably against Space Marines. I have read lists and comments in this forum as well as the Necron codex. Based on that I have made the following list that I think should do ok, but I do not have any experience with Space Marines so feel free to comment and give advice on changes based on your experience.
++ Battalion Detachment +5CP (Necrons) [38 PL, 755pts] ++
Dynasty Choice: Dynasty: Sautekh
+ HQ +
Cryptek [5 PL, 95pts]: Chronometron, Staff of Light
Imotekh the Stormlord [10 PL, 200pts]
. Warlord: Warlord Trait (Sautekh): Hyperlogical Strategist
+ Troops +
Immortals [4 PL, 85pts]: 5x Immortal, Tesla Carbine
Immortals [4 PL, 85pts]: 5x Immortal, Tesla Carbine
Immortals [4 PL, 85pts]: 5x Immortal, Tesla Carbine
+ Flyer +
Doom Scythe [11 PL, 205pts]
++ Outrider Detachment +1CP (Necrons) [70 PL, 1244pts] ++
Dynasty Choice: Dynasty: Nephrekh
+ HQ +
Destroyer Lord [7 PL, 120pts]: Artefact: The Veil of Darkness, Staff of Light
+ Fast Attack +
Canoptek Scarabs [4 PL, 65pts]: 5x Canoptek Scarab Swarm
Canoptek Scarabs [4 PL, 78pts]: 6x Canoptek Scarab Swarm
Destroyers [18 PL, 300pts]
. 6x Destroyer: 6x Gauss Cannon
Destroyers [18 PL, 300pts]
. 6x Destroyer: 6x Gauss Cannon
Tomb Blades [10 PL, 210pts]
. 6x Tomb Blade: Shieldvanes, 2x Gauss Blaster
+ Heavy Support +
Heavy Destroyers [9 PL, 171pts]
. 3x Heavy Destroyer: 3x Heavy Gauss Cannon
++ Total: [108 PL, 1999pts] ++
The basic idea is to use Translocation Crypt to put 1-2 units of destroyers in reserve, especially if I do not get first turn, to save them from shooting. The scarabs will be used as screen while the immortals will support with shooting and take objectives. The Doom Scythe and Heavy Destroyers should be able put some damage in the tougher targets.

Not a bad list.
Gauss weapons are SM killers and as said Doom Scythes and Heavy Destroyers can take on tanks and monsters.
Instead of Imotek, I'd take an Overlord and give the Destroyer Lord a warscythe.

If you invest a lot of points in a buffing unit (imotekh, who can use MWBD twice) the buffed units should be maxed to get the most from the buff.

Thanks for your advice! Imotekh, as you point out, cost a lot of points and could be switched out for an overlord. Then I might get some points left over to spend on something else.
Regarding full units of immortals to use Imotekhs abilities at max, yeah i agree but I can’t decide what to exclude. I could exchange the tomb blades or the heavy destroyers to max at least two units of immortals. But I’m not sure.

If you wan't to swap something out I would suggest the Heavy Destroyers. Regular Destroyers with the Extermination Protocols stratagem will do the same thing pretty well, and you also have the doom scythe

Remove the doom scythe. Its a waste of points. An experienced player can kill it without even attacking it.

I think if you want to run Imotekh, then run at least 2 full squads on immortals. That way you get to enjoy his double MWBD, and can't use the extra CP from him to enjoy a nice Methodical destruction stratagem or two.
I am also not a huge fan of Destroyer lord, I think a Cloaktek would be better in the outrider detachment. Giving a bonus to RP rolls in an aura is better than rerolling 1s to wound on destroyers. Especially since Destroyers almost always will be using Extermination Protocols when shooting with a big group. The Destroyer Lord is a nice distraction carnifex though if you don't have the Cloaktek model or proxy handy.
I actually like Heavy Destroyers, same price as a Triarch Stalker with 1 more Heavy Gauss Cannon shot, and way more maneuverability. I have never played with the Doom Scythe, but I like that you put it in the Sautekh detachment to negate its negatives. I hope it works out for you. I can't really recommend much better AT, as we are limited and even our "best" option (Doomsday Arks), has consistency issues.
As for Space Marines, they typically like to castle up, keeping some support HQs surrounded by these guys called "Hellblasters". Those guys suck, anything with plasma or autocannons will suck as well. 2 Damage weapons will eat our heavy infantry and vehicles alive, focus those down ASAP with either deep striking destroyers or massed tesla shots. When they die, if your opponent has a banner man near his HQs and Hellblaster bubble, on a 4+ (or 3+ depending on chapter), the killed hellblaster gets another round of shooting. BE CAREFUL, have your units support each other for target saturation. Don'tr want your lone unit of destroyers trading with a squad after a good shooting phase on your part.
If your opponent is a melee aggressive army, keep as many units in reserve as you can and just start dropping your units on objectives in your opponents backfield and taking out any important objective sitters they might have had. Also play keep away with your units if possible. Make him SLOG while you zip around the board with your 10"+ move units and veil out a unit of immortals away from him. Chances are, after turn 2 and your destroyers dropping, he shouldn't have much left to shoot your units off with anymore.
Anyways sorry for the long reply, I hope your game goes well! Let us know!

Thanks again for your thoughts, much appreciated! After reading and thinking, I made some changes. I ended up with dropping the Doom Scythe to be able to get two max units of Immortals and I switched out the Destroyer Lord for a Cryptek with a cloak. By getting max units of Immortals, I will get more out of Imotekh and the Immortals will be more of a threat and longer lasting.
I had a tough time deciding if I should drop the Heavy Destroyers instead of the Doom Scythe, but my conclusion was that I would have more maneuverability with Heavy Destroyers. Decisions, decisions...
Regarding Space Marines, I will definitely look out for Hellblasters! Thanks for the tip and for the tactics versus melee armies!
Here is my updated list, which I most likely will run (possible late changes might occur):
++ Battalion Detachment +5CP (Necrons) [39 PL, 754pts] ++
Dynasty Choice: Dynasty: Sautekh
+ HQ +
Cryptek [5 PL, 95pts]: Chronometron, Staff of Light
Imotekh the Stormlord [10 PL, 200pts]
. Warlord: Warlord Trait (Sautekh): Hyperlogical Strategist
+ Troops +
Immortals [8 PL, 170pts]: 10x Immortal, Tesla Carbine
Immortals [8 PL, 170pts]: 10x Immortal, Tesla Carbine
Immortals [8 PL, 119pts]: Gauss Blaster, 7x Immortal
++ Outrider Detachment +1CP (Necrons) [72 PL, 1244pts] ++
Dynasty Choice: Dynasty: Nephrekh
+ HQ +
Cryptek [5 PL, 85pts]: Artefact: The Veil of Darkness, Canoptek Cloak, Staff of Light
+ Fast Attack +
Canoptek Scarabs [4 PL, 78pts]: 6x Canoptek Scarab Swarm
Canoptek Scarabs [4 PL, 65pts]: 5x Canoptek Scarab Swarm
Destroyers [18 PL, 300pts]: 6x Destroyer: 6x Gauss Cannon
Destroyers [18 PL, 300pts]: 6x Destroyer: 6x Gauss Cannon
Tomb Blades [14 PL, 245pts]: 7x Two Gauss Blasters: 2x Gauss Blaster

I can report a Necron win against Raven Guard! We played Maelstrom and I won with 12-10 in points after 5 rounds. By then he had a Captain, an Ancient, a Lieutenant and Shrike left on the table. I think I would have destroyed his last units if there should have been another round.
He had Aggressors, Hellblasters, Inceptors, Reivers, Scouts, Kayvaan Shrike, Primaris Lieutenants, Primaris Captain, Primaris Ancient, Intercessors and a Stormraven gunship.
I put a unit of Destroyers in reserve with Translocation crypt and he put his Inceptors and Shrike in reserve. I got first turn and that was very important. In my first turn I managed to kill all his Aggressors, almost all scouts and some Reivers. I rolled very well!
He rolled bad in his first 2 turns and did not kill much, and what he killed came back with RP. After my turn three, destroyers had taken out Stormraven and my Gauss immortals took out the Intercessors. Hellblasters had been decimated. But his Inceptors was a real pain. It took a unit of destroyers, some Scarabs and a unit of Tesla Immortals to finally take them out.
I was ahead in points (9-2) after 3 rounds but I drew really bad objective cards and he was more lucky with his.
MVP: Destroyers and Tesla Immortals. They were fantastic in this game! The Heavy Destroyers were good and took down the Stormraven.
But the Tomb Blades...completely useless in this game. They did help me score 2 points but their shooting did more or less nothing. I might switch them to either more Destroyers or some Wraiths instead.
What do you think, should Iput in 5-6 more Destroyers (18 in total) or 5 Wraiths instead of the Tomb Blades? Or are the Tomb Blades ok, just not in this matchup?

Personally i like wraiths, as they are a huge bullet magnet which can soak up a lot of shots. And if they dont get shot at, they will cause a lot of havoc

Looks like the TOmb Blades got you the 2 point sot win. they are more for a mobility unit to grab objectives than kill stuff IMO. Tesla Immortals and Destroyers are definitely are 2 best units.
Drop the Heavy Destroyers and take a Doomsday ark next time.

Tomb Blades were fast and helped me score two pionts, however I think I will try swapping them for 5 Wraiths for sunday’s game. I think the Wraiths will be harder to remove and they are still pretty fast. Also, I think the Wraiths can deal some serious damage.
Regarding switching the Heavy Destroyers for a Doomsday Ark, I am building a Doomsday Ark at the moment and it won`t be ready for sundays`s game unfortunately. I was happy with the Heavy Destroyers in the last game, so i am curious what the Doomsday Ark might bring to the table. Is it enough with one Doomsday Ark?
The game on sunday will be against Death Guard, which I have not met before. Hopefully the list will perform as well as against Space Marines.
