Hi guys...sorry for my english...but I have a general question...
I see alot of miniatures and I like a a special look..like this one..

As you can see, the miniature doesnt look glossy. How do I achieve this? What do I have to do to make the colours look dull? I don't think that this is only achieved through the varnishing?

NMM or Non-Metallic Metal. It's an incredibly difficult and tedious technique to master but can yield some pretty spectacular results.

Google knows more.

Thank you. But this will only work for metal...when I look at the skin or the skulls, the painter of the miniatures achieved the same style.is there something you have to mix your paint with?

theres no magic, its just a good matte varnish. i use humbrol matte enamel rattlecans.
for the skin, it looks like hes used a cold grey in his fleshtone, if thats what you mean. you can also get matt medium to mix into your paints but i found theres not much point if you're varnishing matte at the end.

Just layer after layer after layer of blending the colors together. Probably also a layer of satin or matt varnish to remove all the sheen.

That model is a masterpiece, there are no easy and cheap gimmicks for beginners or even quite advanced painters to emulate that "look". Practice, practice and practice. Maybe a bit of talent added to the mix as well.

Add matte medium to your paint, or use a matte varnish. Scale75 brand paints are famous for being very very flat. Most spray-on matte varnishes are still a little shiny but try a few different brands, Testors Dullcote and Tamiya Flat are both good.

If you have an airbrush, you can airbrush matte medium on the mini and it turns the paint absolutely flat

You can try GOLDEN brand "Matte Sealer" that is what I use through my airbrush. That seems to be a great matte finish.

Testors makes "Dullcote" that I use to get this kind of dull/matte/flat finish. It's a convenient spray.
