Normally I use Dupli-Color auto primer and have never had a problem with it, but their grey primer is on the dark side (a tad darker than Eshin Grey). Any recommendations for a primer that's close to Mechanicus Standard Grey in the $5-$10 range?

I doubt you'd have it in the US, but Halfords do a grey primer which I now use for everything, regardless of the colour I'm painting and it's worth the money.

Here's an example of the colour:

Mmmm i know that Rustolium touch and tone grey is a close match for codex grey at like 3 bucks.

They do sell mech standard grey spray paint from GW and other suppliers though its like 5 dollars more than your max.

though on the bright side for those terrain builders out there, apparently Glidden Flagstone Grey house paint is a color match to mech standard grey.

The GW Mechanicus Standard Grey spray is $19.50, almost twice my maximum and about three times the price of the Dupli-Color I generally use.

I though I saw it for 15 on miniature market but that was a quick search. Well in any case If you really need color matched then it’s an option. Alllmost worth it to avoid the headache of experimenting with different companies but that’s my opinion

I use AP uniform grey, is more expensive than automotive primer, I have never really thought to use it

Don't need an exact color match, just looking for a lighter grey than what I have and Mechanicus Standard Grey or something close fits the bill.
