Subject: Which Knight to build?

Hi all,
Im expanding my 7th ed Knight army. I have to finish building a Warden/Crusader and want to know which is better. I haven't even looked at the new book.
I have a Paladin, Errant, Crusader and a Castellan.
With that lineup of knights, should i build this last one as a Warden or Crusader?
Thanks!

No gallant?
Paladin and Gallant were my first 2 knights
I guess I'd go with a Warden of those 2 choices

I'd recommend reading up on how to magnetize your Knights. That way you can swap the configurations whenever you'd like.

I guess the question is better put, would you rather 2 Crusaders or 1 Crusader and 1 Warden?

None. Or rather all. Magnets easy and gives you all. Good for inevitable gw nerfs one to death and makes another king moment

One of each. If you aren't interested in the extra work.

Yet another vote for magnets here! Knights are relatively easy to magnetise too.
If you really don't want to, the two best Knights are Crusader and Gallant imo. Either be ranged threat or be a melee threat, you'll get more out of specialisation than generalisation.
If you've already decided against Gallant then go for another Crusader.
But still magnetise it

Magnetizing was shockingly easy. 30 bucks in magnets, some purchases from 3rd party and ebay, and my Renegades Box and a Canis Rex box I can run my 3 knights as any type of knight, with any variety of Carapace weapon. (except twin autocannon, just have 2 of them)
Reality is you are playing a game that has a built in rebalance 3 times a year, between the big FAQ's and the CA. Not planning for future options isn't just silly, it is actively dumb.

Some people like cinematic posing, Magnetizing isn't always ideal.

I don't use magnets, and don't see the point.
I made it possible to convert one of my Leman Russ tanks between loadouts, both primary and secondary, and it wasn't worth the effort because I only ever run it in a single configuration between loadouts.
That said, as for the knights, I'd make it as the one with 2 guns [avenger cannon and battle cannon].

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades! |

Because Leman Russes only have 2 good configs and haven't been beaten to death with the Nerf Bat. Knights have multiple useful builds and are GWs new whipping boy.

It depends on the unit. I'm so glad I magnetised my Knight because I can go Crusader or Gallant, both of which are viable.
Right now Leman Russes, the Battlecannon is almost always the right choice, with a couple of others ok, and everything else trash. So magnetising won't help much. However, you'll be glad if next edition the Eradicator or something turns out to be the clear meta choice!

Isn't magnetizing a bit of a WAAC thing to do? You don't pick the unit you like the looks off, but try to mini max and cover your butt in case future nerfs one knight over another.

Absolutely not!
There's a visceral joy to swapping out the arms. I sometimes just catch myself doing just that for the fun of it.

Ok cool, magnets are the way to go obviously.
Any links to some useful guides that you have used and worked?

The only magnet you really need on a knight is for the carapace weapon on top.
The arms come right off without magnets or glue. Just don't glue down the shoulder pads (they wedge in pretty nice).
So I'd say build the crusader.

It's been set up as the same way since 5th edition. Actually, it's vanquisher cannon-lascannon, and I have the alternate barrel element to use the battle cannon bit [it's actually really easy to set up for swappable Battle Cannon or Vanquisher Cannon without magnets], but I like the look of my converted gun barrel, and nobody had cared yet. I did the same thing with the Wyvern/Hydra, but then I also found I never used it as a Hydra. Also, when it comes to Leman Russes, buying another one is an entirely effective plan if the loadout one is modelled with isn't exactly the most useful [though that may be a "I have money" thing].
Back to Imperial Knights, you can magnetize it, but you don't have to despite the fact that everybody jumps to it. I'm not the only one who's experience with magnets has been that the effort was a waste of time, most of the people I know personally have one magnetized instance of a model and many unmagnetized fixed-loadout instances. Anyway, it's not a big deal, if it's what you want to do go ahead, but I don't think magnetizing is essential, even for big models.

If there's one model that deserves magnets it's Knights though. I agree it's not necessary for every model.

If you genuinely believe that magnetising the configuration of a £100 model is WAAC thing to do, we are playing a different game.

But side note as to why my knights are magnetised.
Transport and storage. Much easier when you can break them down instead of dealing with 1 solid model
