Hi all. Finally gotten the mojo together to finish my Kill Team leader. I'm happy with it over all but the weathering I tried on the red armour panels hasn't quite gelled with me yet. Anyone have a foolproof recipe for weathering red? I used a combo of scorched Brown and Instar dust Brown to edge the scuffs. I won't do anything more to this guy but I've got another reiver to do for my team and I'd like to do him better

That is one eagle head away from looking very, very Albanian.

Great paint job!

Looks like you've got the right idea. If I had anything to add it would be that the chips which are kind of highlighted at the bottom look the most natural. For example, the weathering on his right leg looks the most realistic to me because it has a sense of depth to it. It reads like the light is catching the bottom, upward-facing edge of the chip.

For my 30K Blood Angels I weather in two ways; sponge weathering, and painted on scratches.

For sponge weathering take a piece of sponge from a blister pack, dip in in Rhinox Hide, dab it on kitchen paper until most of the paint is off (similar idea to dry brushing), then stipple the mini.

For the chipping I use thinned Rhinox Hide to paint in small areas of damage, and on the lower surfaces that would catch the light I use my last highlight color to give a 3D effect. For deep scratches I add some Leadbelcher into the scratch.

Thanks guys.

Seems like I'm of too.far off, I just need to.pay more attention to.where I.put the lighter colour.

@dreadclaw - what do you use for.your final.highlight? Rhinox hide is the new.scorched earth I believe so I'm using the same damage coat.
