Seriously, if you haven't bought this game yet or you are sitting on the fence I highly urge you to acquire it for the glory of the Omnisiah.

Absolutely cracking XCom style game with great graphical style and sweet Blessed Cog the music is very atmospheric and on point.

If anyone else has played it what expansions would you like to see in the future?

No spoilers please for those who haven't completed the game.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

Interesting game.

Unfortunately it's more on the line of the Firaxis X-Coms, more than the classic ones, so i will probably skip this.

Dont confuse it.
It really is a very atmospheric game that has its own mechanics. It is turn based and the interface reminds you of XCom, but that's pretty much where the similarities end.

It tries new stuff and succeeds. The music is top notch, the writing is good, the gameplay is satisfying (although too easy currently) and if you have an interest in the AdMech, this game literally is a must have.
I agree with the OP, skipping this is a crime against the Omnissiah!

As for expansions - defending a Forge World against invading chaos!

I like it so far, the atmpsphere is great and I enjoy the scripted dialogue.

It might be a bit repetetive after awhile but there is always the option of trying out different tactics.

The economy of cognition points is nice too.

edit: An expansion with orks attacking a forge world would be fun!

All of my waking (non-gaming) hours have been spent here.
It's quick to play a bit here and there, and once you work out how to keep the orange-dot bar filled, there's quite a lot to do.

I don't know what the DLC upgrade gets you, but I got a code-card from WHW when I was there the other day.

I agree with the above. The cognition system works very well and managing properly means you can plow through umpteen Necrons in one turn - fail to manage it properly and your Cog Boys will start dropping like flies.

Only fought one of the big bosses so far and I can say Vargard are an absolute PITA. Deathmarks too!

As a DLC I would like to see them introduce a Blackstone Fortress as the next dungeon. Would be very thematic as the AM definitely want to get their hands on them. Would also open up a greater variation in enemy types - but early days still.

Been playing it and it's great. It nails the dark gothic vibe and really presents the Necrons as a terrifying enemy in a survival horror way. For those who haven't played your goal is always to win your objectives and battles but there is no illusion that linger too long, get to greedy, or make too many mistakes and the Necrons will overrun you.

Gameplay is great and tactical. You will never have enough resources so you get to make your tech priests specialists who feel unique. Easily my favorite 40k game since Dawn of War.

I read that there is no cover in the game? Is that correct?
So are all the maps just big open rooms?

As far as I have played, I have not seen cover but there is LoS and weapon ranges.

The rooms so far have been largely open, but there are objects that block LoS and sometimes walls.

So there's no cover directly like Xcom but there is lots of line of sight blocking terrain which is critical for both planning your attacks and preventing being attacked.

I loved this game, the only downside is that it only took me 10 hours to complete. :(

Give me more missions!

It plays more like a mobile game disguised as a pc game tbh.
Fairly average and more suited to touch controls.
But if you want to float your mechanicus ark. I guess its ok.

So, you didn't hear this from me (looks left and right) but the save files are super easy to edit, especially the overall alert level. There are actually around 100 missions loaded in the game and by adjusting the alert level you can play as long as your cold mechanical heart desires.

I just bought Space Marine Tactics. I find it ok, nothing to write home about, I'm not a big gamer type (I like tactical games over FPS, had enough of that in RL). I love 40k type games but. Is 40k Tytanicus a fps or rpg or what ever other acronym? IDK what XCOM is? Ex convict munitions? Xylophone comical optical music?

Well, just finished it (Ding Dong Szeragon Gone)

About 20 hours worth of gameplay if you keep mucking up like I did.

As was mentioned above, I would like more missions and bosses but I still have a number of rewards to collect so going to start afresh with a newly configured team.

Good fun.

How's the macro layer/is there one? I really enjoyed the tactical fights in XCOM but couldn't stick with the game because keeping the politicians happy was such a miserable experience that I just didn't want to bother with.

None of that. The only things outside dungeon crawling are customising your fellas and deciding which mission to pick.

Finished the game yesterday as well... and I long for more.
Probably a second playthrough after some balance changes, the game is just ridicuously easy. The scaling of your tech priests abilities is through the roof and some of the weapons are simply bonkers... (seen the AoE on Torsion Cannons? Good LORD...)
I can burn through all the CP on the map and my starting reservoir in one turn and wipe out the necrons before they can act (which is fun too, the power fantasy is real!)

The only time I ever feel a bit uneasy is when the necrons have the init++ and I don't have CP to plonk down troops. Once 2 or 3 Immortals/lychguard are on the field, one TP came near to dieing... but of course there's the Benediction of Augmetics for that.

I'm at 76% and I LOVE this game. It feels just so great to play my army in a video game, and they've captured the soul of it perfectly. Only gripe I have is the lack of proper voicelines, I'd love to hear some proper words from my squad, or hear the Kastelan blast prayers full volume.

I agree it's way too easy once you have some gear, and I'd add, once you even unlock the Vanguards. Just give your Priests some Secutor traits and you can buff your troops at an insane level. I rarely lose a single man during fights, even Bosses, given how easy it is to repair, and how low the enemy damage output is. In a future playthrough I'll try to give myself more challenge, by using only a single Tech-Priest and its troops for the whole game for exemple, or stuff like that.

The atmosphere is well done and the characters all have their personnalities. Scaevola makes me laugh. Some are too over-the-top like the Skitarii girl whose every line speaks of her troops' well-being and nothing else for example. Or the Sub-Domina who's just talking to say "THE HUNT IS ON RELEASE THE HOUNDS". Otherwise nothing problematic.

I take a great satisfaction killing 6 enemies with a single Combustor shot.

Does it play like Xcom with frustrating hit chances? I.e. 95% chance to hit > miss 6 consecutive times lol

"Courage and Honour. I hear you murmur these words in the mist, in their wake I hear your hearts beat harder with false conviction seeking to convince yourselves that a brave death has meaning.
There is no courage to be found here my nephews, no honour to be had. Your souls will join the trillion others in the mist shrieking uselessly to eternity, weeping for the empire you could not save.

To the unfaithful, I bring holy plagues ripe with enlightenment. To the devout, I bring the blessing of immortality through the kiss of sacred rot.
And to you, new-born sons of Gulliman, to you flesh crafted puppets of a failing Imperium I bring the holiest gift of all.... Silence."

No there is no innate chance to miss that I'm aware of, except if an enemy has a chance to dodge but I'm not aware of that as of today. You have innate chances to crit however, and these are easily buffable, which can make some juicy combos.
