I'm thinking about R&H Chaos Spawn, and Demons Chaos Spawn.
Same name, data sheet is the same with the exception of Keywords.
The R&H version isn't a Deamon, has the Faction Renegades and Heretics, as well as the <Chaos Covenent> keyword.

I'm wondering if I could get 3 Outriders with 3 units each, for 27 Chaos Psaen, plus, I've heard that there are ways to make/summon more.

Totall gimmicky thing, but I'd love to see the array of mutation, I know it's a purely themed list. I know it'll lose, but the lore and playstyle behind the list just drops cool.

A datasheet in a different book with a different keyword is a different data sheet.

Before I answer, I would point out the Rule of Three is only a rule for organised play. I'd recommend checking with your group to confirm if they follow it.

As for what it means exactly... This is one of the more hotly-disputed questions on this forum, to which there is unfortunately no clear answer. There are three basic schools of thought:

1) If the datasheets have the same name, they're considered the same for the Rule of Three.
2) If the datasheets came from different sources, they're different datasheets. If they're from the same source, they're the same datasheet.
3) They're only the same datasheet if they're exactly the same up to and including the choice of keywords where applicable.

I would recommend checking out this thread for a relatively recent debate on this. It used Sorcerors as the duplicating datasheet, but the debate is otherwise the same.

If in doubt, I would suggest using interpretation 1 - it's the "safest" option both in terms of avoiding arguments and in terms of future-proofing against GW publishing an FAQ or errata in the future to clarify. Of course, if your playgroup says it's fine, that's really all that matters.

Unless the datasheets are word for word identical (i.e. Same Keywords) then they aren't the same datasheet.

To say otherwise would force Ultramarines to use Space Wolf Rhinos.

Very succinct and well written answer here!

And on that note, I think we can close this down rather than revisit the previous arguments again.
