Let me hit you with the pitch: A 28mm scale 40k spaceship, made for my orks.

My problem that I've ran into is this: at the scale I want to use, the bare minimum size for a space faring vehicle in preexisting 40k fluff would literally be some people's homes in size. the math I did puts the length to be roughly 250 feet long. I don't know about what interests you guys, but I was looking for a post-finals Christmas break activity, NOT to build a full-sized house for my 40k army.

So I still want to build a spaceship, at 28mm, and it can still be MASSIVE, but maybe table-sized is more my speed? My question is this: what sorts of spacecraft in the fluff is only about a tenth of a kilometer long (5 real world feet, after the math)? What sort of job could my table-top sized spacecraft have?

I reckon at that scale you're only going to get the ork equivalent to a stormbird. Which could be doable. I'd certainly be interested in seeing it.

Deep space bombers are about that size I think. The ones that carry skyscraper sized torpedoes for e ample.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Okay... So I'm been thinking then: What scale is Battlefleet gothic, and is it generally acceptable to kitbash BFG fleets? I seem to recall being told it's not, though i'm not sure...

Essentially I'm willing to settle for a BFG fleet, I think. I just want to kitbash some spaceships.

What about only part of a ship.

that way you could also have stacked layers of insanity for very silly games. with elevators and shafts.

it would be like an apoc game in a zones mortalis table.
Edit: oh right it was already kind of a thing

giant ork crashed type ship thing with open areas to move around and do the war.

Building a table as a ship interior or partial ship interior would be a pretty big undertaking but it's an AWESOME idea, and I demand that you document the process if you do it.

I remember a few years back at a wargames convention one of the clubs attending had put on a game based in a space ship.
At first I thought it was just space hulk but they had marines battling a few other forces.
If I remember rightly, it was about 5 foot long and about two foot wide with many different sized rooms and of course corridors.
If you can imagine a top down on a naval ship you'll have the right idea.
