Finally Warhammer Quest comes to 40K. I played the original WHQ a lot, and always looked for a 40K equivalent.
So you can imagine that I was very curious and also a bit exited about the game.

I have not played it yet, but started painting some minis...

Obsidius Mallex in Sons of Horus Colours. I really dislike the current look of most chaos marines, therefore I used at least some colours that I like.

Pious Vorne, the pyromaniac zealot.

UR-025, the man of steel from an ancient forgotten time.
I painted him to fit my Mechanicus!

No conversion plans atm, but who knows...

OK, a slight conversion…

Obsidius Mallex with Chaos Marine bodyguards. I painted them again in the colours of the Sons of Horus.
In addition I swapped the backpacks for Mk II packs and added a Mk II helmet to tone them a bit down, I just do not like horns and too many pointed trophy racks...

And the always welcome scale comparison shot:

From left to right - Classic plastic Marine, BF Chaos Marine, Primaris
...somehow they have grown on the Blackstone Fortress...

Amallyn Shadowguide, the Eldar Ranger! Since I got a big Ulthwe army I changed the craftworld colours.
Many dislike the sculpt, I really really like her.
The only downer is the size, absolute scale creep as you can see below!!!

Thanks folks!

Wow thats a great comparison picture. Notice how the heads are pretty much the same size, amallyns legs and arms are way longer but her handare actually smaller!

True, the proportions are way better on the new Ranger!

...Worth noting that the other Ranger in Agis' picture is a very old model. She's not that off when placed with the current crop.

No, that's why I put the Guardian beside her!
I was expecting that she is taller than a 90s Ranger, but why 1 head taller as a Guardian?

Just out of curiosity, why did you make the rangers coat black?

Simple - Within the Blackstone fortress black seems the best camo cloak!

I think you could have pulled off a really cool camo scheme, personally. Hint of 'light' blending on the edges and rubble along the bottom.

The mini has at least 3 black to grey highlights, I just wanted it as subtle as it gets…
And "rubble along the bottom." is not my thing…

Anyway here comes the Spindle Drones:

And more WHQ BF minis!

Dahyak Grekh, the Kroot tracker. Again a big mini, but not as big compared to other Kroot as Amallyn Shadowguide. See him below together with a old conversion and a hound.

My first Negavolt Cultist, I converted him slightly, since I did no like the heads cables pointing forward so much. IMO it takes a lot of the forward motion from the mini.

Painted the 4 Ur-Ghuls and the failcast Dark Eldar Ur-Ghul.

In comparison to the new BF plastic the old resin mini is really dated…

And the remaining Negavolt Cultist are done, so far the most complex and time consuming paintjob, but I really like the result.

as almost, more on my site: http://www.adpublishing.de/html/blackstone_fortress.html

Wonderful work!

Can you share which colors you used of the CSM armor?

Green is Vallejo 70.895, whole mini primed black, after base Colour a Nuln wash then base Colour again with more white mixed in.

I started the Traitor Guard.
Good minis but IMO too big spikes, consequently I cut them a bit down...

An after market terrain piece, 3D print with as many print line as it gets, but somehow it fits the Blackstone look. I just primed it black and gave it some drybrushes.

Lovely stuff Agis. Really like the DBS freezer look for the drones.

Thanks!
(But what is a DBS freezer?)

And some more!

Freya and Frygga, the Demiurg Twins.
(I REALLY disliked the 2 R&R Halflings and immediately sold them, but since I liked their game mechanics I ordered 2 Hasslefree SF Dwarfs).
