I had started painting my Tyranids and the scheme I was going for just isn't working. It is time consuming (something I'm very, very short on) and not looking quite like I had hoped. I'd like to start to toss another, much faster color scheme together.

Currently what I have on the models is:
Citadel Black Primer layer
Army Painter Alien Purple layer
Some have citadel yellows painted on the detail work (but not many)

Ideally I'd like to grab a can of yellow army painter and give that base coat another try but I'm not sure it is possible without obscuring detail. Any tips or should I stick with what I have and power through?

If its only 3 layers I'd just respray them with whatever colour you want (depending on the current paint thickness) yellow will not go down easily without some prep work, so if you want quick schemes I would avoid it.

How many you primed like that already ? If not to much maybe it'll be better idea to strip paint and start again from scratch?

eventually black primer is good start for most Tyranids color schemes
