Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

Hey folks!

I've been working on my ANGRY MARINES(tm) army list. It is going to have two dreadnoughts in it, each with a twin heavy bolter and an autocannon.

Today at my FLGS while I was having my very first demo game and "Welcome to 40k and 8th edition game" and learning how to move models, shoot, etc, the store manager went and looked up how I would purchase things to make this dreadnought, which appears to be as follows:

*Dreadnought: Comes from Dreadnought Box (which has no weapons in it that I need, just the body)
*Twin Heavy Bolter Right Arm - Comes from Space Wolves Venerable Dreadnought Kit
*Dreadnought AutoCannon Left Arm - Sold by Forgeworld.

It looks like if I want to make these two dreadnoughts, I need to buy two dreadnoughts, two venerable dreadnoughts, and two separate weapon assemblies from Forge World. Which...I will not do.

That is ridiculous.

I expect I will have to buy two dreadnoughts, or two used dreadnoughts, or something, find someone with space wolf venerable dreadnoughts that has twin linked heavy bolter arms that they aren't using that they will sell me, and either get forge world autocannons, or find a recaster or resin caster or something who can make the autocannon arms.

I don't know how to begin searching or shopping for these things, and need some guidance.

Sounds like you're after a certain pattern of dreadnought, go look at ebay for the parts would be my suggestion. You have to do your own 'homework' by searching ebay daily or multiple times daily. There are recasters but that is not for discussion here.

I’ve dealt with an eBay store by the name of Bits-world, and was quite satisfied with price and delivery. That was a couple of years... or maybe more... ago, but they had a wide selection of Bitz.

There's plenty of shops on eBay and through their own storefronts who part out kits and sell the pieces individually - though I don't know who to recommend in the US. I'd say be prepared for a bit of frustration though - the popular bits are usually priced higher and sell out fast.

Thanks for the notes folks; I’ll do some research and explore some of the PMs I got about supply channels.

Ah, a bit far from VA.

When I was doing my Deathwing Dreads with dual ACs I bought a pair of Aegis Defense Lines just for those autocannon turrets and they were super easy to convert. Now you can't take that option...

I have had luck on ebay with Bits-world, Hoard-o-bits, and Black dagger games. Search them, they all sell parted bits.

Keeping the hobby side alive!

I never forget the Dakka unit scale is binary: Units are either OP or Garbage.

This. I buy a majority of my models and bits from these guys, when I want something specific but don't want to buy multiple kits to get it.
