So I have a box of these unassembled and after the point drop I'm wondering if a Lascannon/CML or Heavy Bolters/Hurricane Bolter could be viable, or at least won't get laughed off the board. I'm not bothered if they aren't the sweatiest WAAC option but it would be nice to know if I'm just wasting my time. The plan is to run them with Guiliman/Primaris Apothecary/Primaris Ancient for added buffs. Thoughts?

I think even at their new point value they still raise the question of why them? Aggressors do dakka better, devs and predators do las better and grav, their unique thing, was nerfed into oblivion at the start of 8th. Are they an auto lose choice now, probably not anymore. I'd say heavy bolter with hurricane is passable but again, why them over something else?

The Assault ones are okay-ish but that's about it.

If you're running them with razberry gubberblub then I'd think the grav option wouldn't be too rough. Full reroll to wound really helps out grav. Automatically Appended Next Post: EDIT: I just looked at the twin-las CML version.
So, for 115 points you can get 2 lascannon shots and 2 krak missiles with D3 damage on a T5, 2+, W3 platform that moves and shoots heavy (only moves 4" though), and ignores cover.
For 125 points you can get 2 lascannon shots and 1 D6 damage krak missile on a T7, 3+, W8 platform that doesn't do those extra things.
hmmm.

I personally like Las/Hurricane. Flat 100PPM and let's them shoot at tanks and hordes (split fire your weapons).
My opinion, however, is that they aren't worth it in any form unless you happen to be taking Rowboat anyway. They're still paying a bit too much for not being 'tough' enough.

You can ignore cover by default going with Imperial Fists though. I wouldn't call it a fantastic benefit for all the points put into them.

Uh, yeah, i wasn't exactly commenting on how good they were with my post. This is more of a "but why" sort of a thing.

Can't split fire from a model I think? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Each weapon can only fire on a single target, but multiple weapons from the same model can be fired at different targets.

Ah OK, thanks for the clarification. I completely had that all wrong in my head.

They could work with Raven Guard SFTS, as you can relocate the "infantry" after deployment, plus -1 to hit from chapter tactic. It would work much better before SFTS got changed, but I think it is still considerable choice. But still can't decide which one of their build - assault or devastator - would be better for RG...I'm too fresh with rules

Put them in a fortification. Then they're a lot tougher and have increased LOS options.
