Not neccesary news and very tentatively a rumour so mods please feel free to move if appropriate.

Earlier on today myself and Mrs Squilverine paid a visit to Warhammer World.
Whilst there we had a wander around the exhibition areas and happened to be following what appeared to be one of the GW higher ups and a group of people who were discussing areas in which GW could expand licenced products and how best to attract potential new partners at trade shows.
One of the areas which kept getting mentioned was clothing and that GW sold very little themed clothing outside of Warhammer world.
They had said they had been approached in the past by some major high Street fashion chains but had declined them based upon suitability and appropriateness. Primark were mentioned as being particularly interested in using some of the faction logos for a children's range (around 5-8 years)but when GW informed them of what some of these symbols stood for they were put off.
It seemed to be quite a frustrating conversation as the GW employee was very keen to explain the depth and variation of the different factions and systems whilst the other group were trying to explain that most companies and members of the public would likely be confused by the complex background and number of factions. They suggested concentration on 3 core factions and simplifying them to create more mass appeal.
My personal thoughts are that whilst trying to reach a larger audience is good for the hobby, diluting it to better suit the masses could alienate the very fans who have made the company the success it is. Is that worth the risk to sell a few t-shirts. Whilst it would be interesting to see Space Marine chapter badges on clothes in Marks and Spencer I'm in no rush to see 5 year olds sporting the Slaanesh symbol! It would also be interesting to see what sort of other avenues GW may look at giving out licences for

Well, we have seen them do leggings/women’s pants (harlequin, slaanesh), simple tees and windbreakers, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see more themed clothing show up (say, a polo-style shirt with Ultramarine symbol).

I’m a bit surprised GW hasn’t opened up a line of Funko pops marine chapters, personally.

It never ends well

That's hilarious. So the retailers turn down 40k stuff, but it's quite alright to adorn your offspring in regalia celebrating a mass murdering child killing cyborg and his legions of morally corrupt faceless killing machines from Star Wars Or the mentally damaged, PTSD suffering ultra violent vigilante that is Bat man.

40k just needs to push the princesses of 40k much more to balance it out.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!
