Hello everybody. I'm very new to airbrushing; I picked up a cheap makeup airbrush just to use for basecoating. Recently I basecoated a couple of models with it using Vallejo Game Air paints straight from the dropper bottle. However, today I tried to put down a basecoat using Vallejo Game Color (Scarlett Blood), and it gave me a lot of trouble, even when I tried to thin it with distilled water. Are the Game Color paints not suitable for airbrushing, or do I have to just thin it further, or do I need to use something other than water for thinning? Sorry for the noob question.

VGC paints can be run through an airbrush, but they require a decent amount of thinning. My understaning is that you can use water for that, but thinner is better.

Usually, if you're struggling to get it to flow, you need to thin the paint and/or increase your air pressure.

But trying to shoot anything much thicker than full fat milk through a gun is likely to end poorly.

Thanks, I'll thin the paint more and try again.

Water is fine, thinner is better.
Thinner breaks apart pigment to .are is easier and less likely to clog, that and use drying retarder, flow improver, flowaid, something like those.

Certain colours also require more thinning than others, so do it by consistency rather than measuring.

I tried again, this time thinning with Vallejo airbrush flow improver. Much better results this time. Thanks for the advice guys!
