Something i'm curious about. Haven't ever looked at a Necromunda book, so maybe there's more info there, but from reading wikis online i don't see mention of it.

I wanted to make a gang that was cold climate-themed, but still make sense as a gang of Necromunda. Wasn't sure if that was possible...

Dunno if its in lore or not but you could industrial gas expansion gang. say they live near some gas expansion pipes that make the entire region snowy.

one of the places i used to work had giant argon tanks that had pipes freeze over. (we would strap sodas and monsters on it to freeze them for work )

mechanically it could be a starting point.

Yeah, I don't think there's anything explicit either way, but it's pretty much a given there'd be bits of the underhive that were just really cold as the air filtration systems do their thing. The hives are big enough for some sections to have weather patterns.

Seems like there would be colder areas, a city that big is going to need some pretty hefty cooling mechanisms just to stay cool enough for people to live. So there may be areas around super large air conditioning systems that create a substantial cold zone in their vicinity. Or your guys have just adapted to living in the AC duct work. Its a big enough place, it can be made plausible.

Perhaps this is a relic from Oldmunda, but I was under the impression that the surface of the planet was completely inhospitable for humans?

As in, you go out there and you die within minutes.

As others have said, you can solve basically any problem, real or perceived, with the liberal application of handwaveium, 40K's most valuable resource.

I'm on board with the people suggesting not to think of Necromunda as a planet (why would inhabitants of the polar regions also have gangers in the spire? If they are used to cold they'd find the spire hot and strip off their cold gear!)

Instead consider how Necromunda is constructed of thousands of bio domes, each with its own environmental systems.

Consider why the region your gang inhabits is particularly cold (I like the gas expansion / leak suggestion!). Also consider maybe your gang comes from a very warm region of the hive, and actually have to wrap up warm when visiting other parts of the hive so they can avoid hypothermia in what to them is cold regions.

Now, I am only knowledgeable about the original Necromunda, but I would assume that battles that take place way up the Spire, near the Imperial Houses, would have temperature problems if they are happening near to the outer 'skin' layers, even while atmosphere is being generated. Remember even halfway up the Spire is the cloud layer, so imagine what it's like if you were in a plane with no heating.

There could be whole sections where freezing gale force winds blow through.

I didnt think gangers were allowed to be anywhere near the top let a lone a whole clan. though depending on how far the "under"hive is, perhaps there could be an area.

id say realistically id say it would be a gang controlled by the water clan to scrap precious moisture ice off of a spires main Plasma generator fuel storage.

gives them a job and a purpose for living in a cold area.

Well these are actually some really great ideas, and happen to fit right into my gang's industrial laborer background that i'll be emphasizing with a lot of kitbashing. Appreciate the responses!

A really creepy idea could be an abandoned municipal morgue, but with still-functioning refridgeration...

With the size of the population on Necromunda, the morgues could easily be large enough to have running battles in, even if only a fraction of the population passes through them.

Also gives you the excuse for a really cheesy gang name, like the Undertakers or something
