Hi Everyone

I have basically joined to ask if anyone knows a reliable source to sell a large collection of figures.
My father in law recently passed away and he had collected and painted some incredible warhammer
models, some lead. Unfortunately none of the family are into gaming like he was.
Does anyone have any suggestions as I would hate to sell them on cheaply on Ebay.

Kind regards to everyone

William

take photos of individual or likely squads and post on a platform like imgur and link to forums here, the community can help you identify them and give you an estimate of their worth.

Hi William,

Sorry for your loss.

There are companies (such as Troll Trader - https://www.facebook.com/TheTrollTrader/ or AA-Wargames - aawargames@hotmail.co.uk) which will buy entire collections but they're not much better than eBay. It might be worth having a word with any local auction houses to see if they know of any upcoming specialists auctions they could be included in.

Hi

Thank you for your quick response and kind thoughts.

The main reason for selling is that there are three daughters and therefore I would like to obtain the best prices. I never really expected to find so many figures and they are mostly painted to an exceptional standard but I have no idea where to start. A lot of the collection is kept in Warhammer cases.

To give you an idea, one of the figures appears to be driving a huge cannon supported on four wheels two small at the back with the larger ones at the front, any thoughts?

You REALLY need to take those pics, exceptional painting standard to you it may be, but to others it may be standard table top at best, the pics will also help you sell them individually on ebay or anywhere else. To get the best price, obviously depending on paint job, rarity, OOP(out of print) and market for the miniature. You have to be patient and sell them individually usually, bulk sales are rare and buyer usually will ask for a discount, auction places and ebay also take a fee once sold, fire sale will also lower your expected income.

I paint to a very high table top standard/some at border line master level imo of course, where does the collection you're trying to sell compare?

I don't see how selling them in bulk to a reseller (like the two you mentioned) is a good idea, in fact I would advise against it. They will give you significantly less than what you would receive if you were to list them on ebay yourself.

I mean, that's what they would end up doing with your figures; listing them individually on ebay, to make a profit (obviously!).

Sounds like the OOP Chaos Hellcannon to me, but as the man above said, we really need pictures!

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

OP:

If I can make a suggestion - I think you should look for a FLGS - whatever a nearby gaming store is, and go pay a visit to the owner. Find out what interest there is in the local community.
