Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

Hey folks!

I need some advice.

1. What is the most popular chaos marine army archetype right now? Which God of Chaos?
2. What do you think the most popular chaos marine army archtype will be in a year based on current trends? Which God of Chaos?

I'm working on a unique angry marine army, where every model is a unique diorama with associated illustrations.

One of these models is going to be my angry marine company ancient wearing a literal cape made out of oaths of moment, posed heroically over a fallen chaos marine while drinking my favorite liquor (Captain Morgan). I need to decide which chaos marine is going to receive the literal standard planted in a "bloody" pin-vised hole in his butt. I want that chaos marine to be representative of what chaos army I am most likely to run into at tournaments and GTs around the US over the next few years.

Please advise.

And in case anyone cares, a guy named Ihor from DeviantArt drew that for me; there are revisions to come.

I'm not in a position atm to give you the definitive lists, but I believe its something like a gakload of cultists with abaddon and ahriman, maybe a daemon primarch.

The MEQ portion of CSM is unfortunately it's least competitive element, but Ill see if I can find some power armor heavy lists that have placed well in GTs.

Ah...I should clarify - I'm asking which ...Chaos God is the most prevalent? I need to know which chaos marine to put under the banner, and which color scheme to use.

Probably Thousand Sons is the most powerful chaos arm at the moment.

some 1ksons characters, some Demon princes and a knight, or more demon princes, ton of cultists or maybe tzangors. That is what I see being played around here. specific lists are probably tailored to specific tournament packs.

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain.

The only way to be sure is to make multiple fallen CSMs & then magnetize the Angry Marine to them.
You'll need separate bases representing WE, TS, DG, EC, Black Legion, Alphas, NLs, & IW.
I'd also do up bases for DA, BA, & SW....

Then, right before playing, you swap out the base for whichever best matches the foe your about to crush.

That's.... .... ..... a lot of work.

Currently the two most popular are Tzeentch and Nurgle. This is mainly because they both had deathguard and thousand sons codex separate from CSM so they function quite well. Its becoming common to see both in lists together with Ahriman and Tzeentch DP's running alongside hordes of Plaguebearers.

To answer your second question, at the moment with 2 big faq's a year and chapter approved the meta can shift quite quickly so it may all change. Its not outside the realms of probability that we will see emperor's children codex next up for chaos particularly since slaanesh is getting new models. If that happens I would expect popularity to shift.

So I would prostrate yourself beneath the altar of whichever god you wish to devote yourself to...they'd each be happy to have you serve them except maybe Tzeentch who doesn't really care because he'll take you if he wants...

I don't intend to prostrate myself beneath an altar of one of the Gods...I intended to puncture the prostate of one of the Gods' minions beneath my banner.

It's going to be either Thousand Sons or Death Guard, the other CSM armies are just not worth the paper they are printed on since the SINGLE good thing about the codex got nerfed to uselessness.

We're teetering on the brink of new chaos releases. All bets are off I'm afraid. As to what's popular now, that's Thousand Sons and Nurgle Daemons, and sometimes Morty.

If anyone cares, I ended up going with Nurgle. =D

The model will do the same. This is still WIP.
