Hi,

So I've done destroyed city/urban bases before using sprues cut up to look like bricks, plastic for pipes and some mesh stuff to look like fencing.

But with my next project I'd like to use some of those techniques but go a level up.

I'm thinking of green stuffing slabs of concrete and I'm also trying to find basing materials to buy, steel bars, bricks.. Anything like that.

Where can I buy these?
Does anyone have some examples and inspiration of similar stuff they could post?

I'm not sure where to start.
I'm going for a rundown, underhive, genestealer cult vibe.

Thank you.

IIRC James wappel does some amazing bases with polymer clay.

You could potenially do some nutty stuff with it like embedding wire mesh to make rebar. so you roll out a square and break up parts of it after its been baked.

Alternativly to be way cheaper and faster, you can buy linolium tiles pretty cheap and most home stores (at least in America) that can be broken up to look like realistic slabs.

it can also be scribbed with the back of a crap exacto to make stress relief lines and cracks.

You can buy hobby scale bricks. i think O scale looks fine, HO scale is a little small IIRC,

evergreen plastics makes basicly every scaled steel beams possible like i beams C channels, roof panels and the like. as well as diamond plate.

it gets pricey but eh. there are plenty of other manufactures so shop around for hobby scale plastics.

You'd use up a lot of green stuff to do decently thick slabs. I would recommend some foamed pvc sheets. 3 or 5mm thick sheets would probably do.well for basing materials.and they are really easy to.work with using craft knives.

I've been doing concrete themed Necromunda.terrain and it works out great. The sheets are also probably soft enough that you could emboss them.for.texture.

If you get some pinning wire or paperclip, then cut short lengths and drill them into the side of the pvc sheet to look.like rebar.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

You can use Cork to represent slabs of masonry/concrete. Ak interactive make a decent concrete paint too.
