Involving movement I'm pretty sure there would be some confusing parts. Mainly orientation of the formation. Say you have a triangle formation of 10 models and want them to move up so the front of it blocks a choke point but that choke point is facing to your left. Would the movement rules allow you to pivot the formation so long as the models in the back don't go past the lead model? Examples shown in my crude illustrations. Would the same apply to models in movement trays that are in different formations too?
There would be no true front to the unit, you can just have the left side of your unit move up to block the choke point, you don't have to have your models face in the direction they are moving, swiveling models around to face your preferred direction takes up movement and there is no reason to do it.
Don't put your units in triangles, it means your opponents will have 3 models to 3 point and take captive in every unit, put them in 2 rows of 5 with each row being on a separate tray, removing models in ways to make it impossible for the unit to get taken captive. That way you can also block 10" instead of 4" before you have to get the models off their trays. Otherwise use round movement trays since those are harder to three point and take captives against as well.
