Hello!
So i wanted to magnetize my movement trays. The plan was to have one magnet on the backside of the base and one on the movement tray, simple enough right?
However, as the backside of the bases are pretty much all uneven the magnets will end up in different places which makes this solution not so good.

My current plan is to cover the ground of the movement trays with a thin magnetic fabric of some kind, but im not sure where i would start to look for something like this.
Anyone got any suggestions of where one would find such fabric?

Also if anyone got any other suggestion on how i would solve this im all ears.

Have you tried magnetic sheet? It doesn't stick amazingly well but It should do for putting in a tray

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Magic-Self-Adhesive-Magnetic-Sheet-0-75mm/dp/B07L34VZHN/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1551131551&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=Magnetic+sheet&psc=1

It's even self adhesive

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

I'd look into putting a couple of coats of magnetic paint on the movement trays.

I’d try using thin metal sheet in the trays. Use tin snips to cut to shape

Litko sells round flex-steel and round magnetic discs,
they could work for the base

Todosi has a good idea! Just make sure to dull the edges down afterwards.

As for attaching the magnets, place some wax paper over your metallic surface, put the magnet on it and then hot glue it to the base. Really simple to do, the magnets are all flush with the metal, and the glue peels right off of the wax paper.

Large magnet (1/4") on the tray - if those are your own prints, I suggest making a new one where you could slot the magnets into in.
Small magnet (1/8") on the bottom of the base with greystuff mound.

The difference in the surface area will give you some leeways when mounting the magnets.
