I'm currently watching GMG on YouTube play Blackstone Fortress and I'm loving it. I'm up to expedition 05 - The Descent. I don't own the game because i need to figure out where I'm going to play it, seems like you need a big table or similar to set everything up. So I'm a bit put off imaging me playing it on the floor lol.

Anyway with the Ambull expansion, I wonder what other characters will be added that can fit into the story. Before now 40k was lacking a rogue trader, now that's sorted with Janus Draik. There are models for them but I think Inquisitors are lacking. So that's a good route to go down, an Inquisitor with his/her retinue, there's a lot of scope for potential characters when you think of the retinue. It could even contain some Deathwatch to match the chaos space marines already present in the game. A Deathwatch techmarine would definitely be interested in the fortresses ancient goodies. That would be such a nice model. Do it GW I know your reading this!

I'm interested to read what you guys are thinking.

Cheers.

Either I suck at writing or nobody cares. Probably both actually.

Well according this this: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2019/02/15/15th-feb-new-models-games-and-funko-pop-at-the-new-york-toy-fairgw-homepage-post-3/

Combat area is set aboard a ship prior to it visiting the Blackstone fortress and they will feature in an upcoming adventure pack.

So that adds another rogue trader, a Crusader, a Skitarii, a Servitor and a primaris Psyker.

Blackstone fortress will slowly add in a lot of the Rouge Trader elements that we don't get to see in the 40k setting.

Rak"ghols, and various other alien monstrocities.

Will also probably have an expansion with Eldar Corsairs/Ork freeboota captains at some point.

All speculation of course, but its their best way to get these cool things into model form without a major investment that could cost them money.

Cool I didn't know about this, thanks.

That's what I'm wanting. I didn't even know about the Ambull until Blackstone Fortress, so it gets me excited thinking some abstract model could come to light again.

Give us some time to think

I think an inquisitor retinue would could certainly work, there’s all sorts of ways this game can be expanded. My son and I have already stated up about a dozen character concepts we want to try out, including members of a marine kill Team/Deathwatch, a rival Chaos marine squad (which could also introduce some PVP elements with opposing teams trying to “race to the artifact” and have run-in’s with each other) as well as other minor heroes (a guardsman officer and his two mooks), and various xenos for possibly making an alt non-human Team (again, something that could lead to a game mode where players are running their own (full) teams in a race to see who gets to the vault(s) first.

They could do a whole Inquisitor edition as big as the first box- new inquisitors and retinues for all three ordos and a selection of baddies.

If they timed it with an Inquisition dex, it's a great crossover opportunity. I love the Blackstone Ministorum characters, and as I understand it, they all have 40k rules.

I'm really curious about Blackstone's solo play option, and whether that carries over into the expansion stuff.

Perspective flip. Imperial goons and Chaos PCs.

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

I can't wait until my two sons are old enough and then I'll be doing the exact same thing, ones nearly 1 the others nearly 3. Do you mind me asking you a Dad question? What age did your son start taking an interest in something to the extent of it being a hobby? I really want to bond with my oldest in a different way, it's hard when his current thing is fireman sam.

Cheers.

I started doing roleplaying games with my son when he was 8 (a very simplified D&D, me handling all the stats so he could focus on RP), he started playing 40K when he was 10 and really started to come into his own and make it a hobby (instead of just a pastime with dad) by the time he was 12. Now, he's 18 and I can't beat him.

It never ends well
