Does the imperium use tank destroyers like the WWII ones with the only front facing guns, because if yes then I might convert a SU-122 Russian infantry/tank destroyer into an imperial vehicle.

I'm dyslexic and thus am bad at spelling and grammar please don't remind me in comments to my posts.

The flesh tearers really like killing so much. In fact they may love it more than inquisitors.

Yes. Forgeworld even made a model for it. Behold the Destroyer Tank Hunter.

Yes, at least historically.

Shadowsword?

All of the superheavies based on that chassis are also in the same boat. Fixed forward mount in order to mount a weapon generally larger than a turret could accommodate. Similarly the Venator and Malcador based heavy tank destroyers.

Arguably you could.use the original.razorback in the TD role. Light armour,.fast vehicle, but punchy anti armour weapon.

Interesting article.on The Cheiftans Hatch on YouTube about the US Tank Destroyer branch.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

I'd you aren't adverse to super-heavies, there is. Valdor Tank Hunter from FW that gets bonuses against other vehicles, but it houses an unstable reactor that will blow on a 2+ when it dies. Make sure you don't have any units near it as it will deal a massive 2d6 to everything around it.

The Vindicator was around in RT or at least by 2nd ed.

RT's "tank destroyer" was the Sabre tank hunter. SM and guard could both use it (but guard could use land raiders and rhinos, too - because leman russes and chimerae didn't yet have models or profiles.

Made from rhino track sides, a land raider's front glacis and a few pieces of plasticard sheet, and a tube for the main gun (which was an autocannon, because battlecannons - let alone AP ones - didn't exist yet). It was the leftovers from making a Land Raider Spartan.

Then the "vindicator" became a thing via a conversion in WD (much like the Whirlwind) and in 3rd ed got its own kit (it's not in the catalog before 2000 - so possibly 1999 since it wasn't in 1998 catalog).

The Destroyer (FW) tank hunter was built from wrecked Guard assault tanks with demolisher guns (upgraded with turbo lasers or something).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

I've seen converted StuGs, Jagdpanters and SUs into 40k, so, definitely go for it!

It's not that long ago since the Jagdpanter was featured on the front page too.

Its a great article. Well anything by the Chieftain is highly recommended. I'd disagree on the M4's driver escape hatch. The wife could bounce in and out of it, but I had a time of it.

Its the other way around. The Destroyer is the base tank with the super high tech laser destroyer as main armament. When that breaks and they can't fix it (I.e. most of the time) then they strip it out and replace it with a demolisher cannon making the Thunderer I think it was.

The Horus heresy Vindicator with the quad laser array (as posted by JBSchroeds) is the modern re-interpretation of that model.

I'd like to pick up another RT Land Raider and have a go at the Spartan and Sabre models, myself.
