Greetings heretics,

I’m very new to AoS and making a nurgle army around the Blightwar + plaguebearers box set I got.
I normally play 40k (space wolves and traitor guard with nurgle deamons) so units I can use in both appeal to me.
I noticed that beastmen get the Pestilent Throng so I can keep my nurgle allegence and I can use them as wulfen or mutants/beastmen in 40k
With the Plague bearers it’s brst to use them in large units which can be costly in money and points.
I’m also considering converting my plague drones to beasts of nurgle and their riders to poxbringer, bile piper and scrinex.

My questions are:
Is it better to convert the plague drones into beasts of nurgle and heroes and dumping the Ritualcult battalion for something else?
Is the pestilent throng a better move to get my other 2 battleline units or stick to the maggotkin book and what would be a cost effective direction?

Thank you

For what you want to do you'll want to get both the Maggotkin and BoC books. Then you can run beastmen units in the pestilent thong battalion as part of a broader maggotkin allegiance.

"Maggotkin" can be confusing coming over from 40k. It is not analogous to Death Guard or even Nurgle CSM + Daemons; it is everything with the Nurgle keyword. That means nurgle daemons, rotbringers, slaves to darkness (marked), beastmen that are part of the pestilent thong, generic daemons (marked), and even Archaon. All of those can use the maggotkin allegiance, the units in the battletome are simply there as mono-nurgle; they are unique to nurgle forces and don't exist in generic form.

Does that make sense?

Yeah it does thank you
I was hoping that would be the case (and wish it was like that in 40k) but I wasn’t sure.
Is it a good option to use beastmen or would blightking be a better option for me? I know I need 3 battleline units and only have the one unit if plaguebearers so far.
And do you think that it would be a good move not t use the Ritualculturalist battalion and to convert the plague drones to beasts of nurgle and heroes? Sorry for all the noob questions, it’s an expensive hobby and I have low income and a family so want to plan it right

Oh don't worry, it's better to ask!

I would not go for the rituculturalist battalion. Beasts of Nurgle are really bad right now (worst Nurgle unit, actually) and that battalion only works if you have 5 gnarlmaws to put down over the game. Meanwhile, plague drones are one of Nurgle's better units and fill a role (cavalry) that is hard to find elsewhere.

A pretty standard loadout for Nurgle battleline is 30 plaguebearers-5 blightkings-5 blightkings.

FYI, only run plaguebearers in squads of 30, they aren't particularly worth it otherwise.

Thanks again
The main thing I liked about the battalion was that horti helped plaguebearers.
So the beastmen are not a good option to fill out the battleline?

They can if you want them to. With pestilent thong you want to run msu for supporting a main line, something that blightkings do very well. You'll probably end up well over your minimum battleline requirements.

You forget all the stuff from Skaven Clan Pestilens. They all have the Nurgle key word as well.

Are they a good option?

Plague Monks in Nurgle allegiance won't be the complete broken cheese they are in Skaventide, but are still overpowered. The Verminlord Corruptor is the best Nurgle Daemon right now, period. It simply out-performs its points cost by a large margin. Plagueclaw catapults offer ranged firepower Nurgle otherwise lacks so 1-2 of them can really round out an army well. Plague priests offer some nice offensive support and are really cheap points wise but can also hurt non-pestilens units nearby so require some care when moving about.

Censer bearers and plague furnaces are better left to vermintide allegiance.

Wow thank you
So many options to choose from lol
What is the best purchases in your opinions?
Something I can use in both 40k and AoS but also affordable is ideal.
I figured more line infantry is the next step.
I can use beastmen as wulfen/chaos beastmen, marauders with my astra/hereticus militarium and maybe blightkings or chaos knights as deathguard I would like skaven but I don’t think they will work for 40k but still considering them.
So that means the start collecting slaves to darkness, beastmen, maggotkin (which would save me another book lol) or even clan pestilence starter box.
I’m leaning towards starter nurgle deamon then 2x marauders then I could use their shields for my space wolves. That’s the line cores then some deamon princes with wings.

Thoughts or recommendations welcome as idk if that is ideal in AoS

Honestly plaguebearers and drones are great staples to build a nurgle army around, and to my knowledge are good in 40k as well. A GUO with bell is extremely powerful, you can equip his other weapon based on what you want for 40k. Blightkings you might be able to get away with using as mutilators. Plague monks could perhaps pass as poxwalkers. A lot of it depends on how accommodating your fellow players are.

Been looking them up and still tempted with marauders (2x10 man unit for $75nzd) which will only be 120 points for the rest of the battleline behind the plaguebearers and I can use my deathguard caster to cast blades if purdridifcation would be good and I can use them as 40k cultists they can also trigger horts in death there is life. I would love to get 90 plaguebearers down but that’s a lot of money. Will look at a deamon prince latter as well or horsemen.

Unlike 40k, you only get one set of allegiance abilities for the whole army. So the artifacts, command traits, and abilities listed under Slaves to Darkness are not used. However, since with the mark those are Nurgle models that means they benefit from the Nurgle allegiance instead. So that daemon prince can be given artifacts from the nurgle list.

You should not have slimux as your general, since as a unique character he cannot have a command trait.

I believe marauders have a minimum size of 20 now, I don't have my ghb on me at the moment so I can't check.

Avoid beasts of nurgle entirely, they are really bad. Hopefully they will get a points reduction in the future.
