Yeah, i know, "never start off with a character". Well i'm one of the people that have to learn the hard way. In hindsight yes it was dumb, and the work over all is kinda gakky. It was a lot of fun though, and even if it will never be the nicest looking piece on the table i'm kinda ok with my first attempt at this hobby.

What do you guys think? Not bad for a newbie ey?

First of all, welcome to the hobby! Secondly it's a solid start, hit it with some Nuln Oil or Agrax Earthsahde to add some shading, then go back and lighten things up a bit and you are on your way to becoming a pro!

Good deal. Whichever shade you use thin it down a bit and brush it all over the model. Work the shade into the cracks/joints and let it dry completely. It's pure painting talent in a bottle lol.

Welcome to the hobby mate. And you are on the right track, as the above user said, its a solid start and if you implement some other things like washes etc it will help alot.

Good work!!

I'm sure you'll get lots of good critiques here. Try to save that model so you can see your progress later that would be cool

Welcome to The Hobby and Dakka.

Washes and drybrushing are two basic techniques that will help a lot. Especially on metals.

Good start. You might want to go back and do a cleanup pass ant touch up a few spots. While mostly OK, there is a little slop. One reason to like washes is they help hide that. But my normal procedure is sloppy basecoat, details/touch-up, wash, and then final touchups (mostly if the wash got where it wasn’t supposed to be, but also things I missed)

One sec while I put on my Dakka Hive-mind hat...
Thin your paints! Drill your gun barrels! It’s not finished until it’s based!
Sorry about that. Just stock advice that seems to get brought up in every painting advice thread. Just wanted to get it out of the way.

Not a bad start at all.
I have added in the image tags so they show the pics here and moved to the General Painting and Modeling sub-forum as you need to have the base finished for it to be in the Showcase.

Helluva lot better than my first painted Space Marine. You've already had some good advice hear so I'm not going to repeat it all, just keep at it and you'll see your skills improve quite quickly I bet.
