I came across my old BFG stuff, packed away in my basement. Now, I have this insatiable urge to play again. Broke out my unpainted Imperials and painted these, on Monday and Tuesday night. I still have 8 or so cruisers, four more squadrons of escorts, and a Retribution battleship left to paint.

I bought a 6x4 star field mousepad mat from Deep Cut Studios. I have to say, I thought the price was a bit steep, until I got the thing in my hands. It's absolutely worth every penny.

I forgot to add the painted Lunar class cruiser to the pic. But, with everything pictured + the Lunar, the fleet is at 2040 points, no Admiral

Ugh such an awesome game! Hope they bring it back.

Your fleet looks awesome, by the way. That mat also looks fantastic with your fleet.

THAT looks incredible!

I also miss BFG. I have a small Cadian sector Imperial fleet and a small Ork fleet. I guess I should bulk up the Orks so that they have enough points to balance my Imperials and talk someone local into playing a game or two.

The secret to painting a really big army is to keep at it. You can't reach your destination if you never take any steps.

I build IG...lots and lots of IG.

Thanks, guys. My favorite GW games have always been the 'Specialist' games. Epic 40k, BFG, and Necromunda.

I've got over 5k points of Chaos to strip, then re-paint. I also have about 3k each, of Eldar and Orks to paint. It's been quite some time since I was inspired enough to paint stuff.

Amazing! I really wish I still had my old fleet, even if it didn't look nearly as good as yours.

Thanks,

Thanks, everyone!

By the way, (and I'm not a representative, or anything) if any of you are considering buying any gaming mats, Deep Cut Studios is utterly awesome. These guys are based in England and it was $110 USD to buy and ship to Ohio. I have zero experience with any other game mat companies and I'm not sure if I will try anyone else out, should I need a mat in the future.

This mat is mousepad material and it's 6' x 4'. It has an excellent weight to it, the graphics are clear as a bell, and the colors are vibrant. This mat really pops. Not only that, but it came with (and rolled up inside of) a clear, soft-sided case, with a carrying handle. There's twp snaps on one end to keep it closed. They also sell smaller sizes in a wide variety of graphics, many of which are perfectly suited for sci-fi.

Incredible looking fleet, it's a shame I joined the hobby too late and couldn't get into BFG.

These look great! Love the bases.

I'm debating whether I want to paint name banners on the bases, or not. I'm not really keen on coming up with a name for ALL my ships, then painting it on the bases.

I know a name banner would look nice, painted on the base, but it would ruin the aesthetic, for me. Problem is, I can't think up a different way.
