So I've just gotten into the hobby this last month and have completed my first batch of models (command squad, infantry squad and some regimental advisors).

Some came out good, some less good, but I did the advisors last and I think they came out best.

Any pointers, tips or advice would be great. Cheers.

Very clean highlighting, especially for a new hobbyist. I'm impressed.

I think they could both benefit from a wash to add shade to the recesses and bring some depth to the model. I would use Agrax Earthshade for the uniforms and Nuln Oil for metallic details. The skin looks good without a wash, but if you'd like to try the effect, you can use Reikland Fleshshade.

Cheers mate. I had a lot of help from the good people at my local gw.

I did use shades, the exact 3 you mentioned, but I guess next time.i should add a second coat.

Extremely solid result. Better than 90% of the stuff I see at local stores. Perfectly good tabletop result. Would be happy to play against it.

I agree, they're very solid. For first minis, your ability to keep within the lines is impressive. Honestly, finding solid base colours for each area, painting within the lines and hitting it all with various washes will produce an effective tabletop quality result - and you've managed to do all that.

I'd check out some of the YouTube painting tutorials that GW have posted for further advice on highlighting and going 'the extra step'. They've done a Cadian Guardsman one which, given you appear to be doing Cadian 8th, would be useful to check out.

Good work so far.

For your first minis, these are fantastic. You’ve painted them neatly, which I believe is the most important thing. You could add more highlights here and there, but if you were to paint an army to this standard that would be absolutely fine - especially with the amount of models that the AM require. Don’t fuss about painting their eyes. If you’re not confident, it looks better as is.
