From the creators of the ill-fated Martyr game..
We are pleased to announce WARHAMMER 40,000: INQUISITOR – PROPHECY, a stand-alone expansion pack for Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr. It is a brand new action-RPG experience in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, and although Inquisitor – Martyr is not required to play, the story is designed to fit both for new and for returning players.
KEY FEATURES
New Class: Play as a Tech-Adept Inquisitor. Summon and enhance units to help defeat enemies and complete investigations. This new summoner class comes with new unique abilities and mechanics, a unique skill-tree and various new melee and ranged builds.
New Campaign: The story of Inquisitor – Martyr continues in three new chapters, with one chapter solely focusing on the Tech-Adept, as its story slowly ties into the main plot.
New Environments: Players can discover huge monasteries, hazardous factories, unforgiving deserts and ruthless worlds engulfed by lava and volcanoes.
New Enemy Races: Inquisitor – Prophecy adds the Eldar and the Tyranids as new enemy races.
New Gameplay Mechanics: Inquisitor – Prophecy will be based on Inquisitor - Martyr’s 2.0 update, bringing the base game’s new level cap, redesigned loot-system and leveling, its new end-game, the co-op campaign mode, new items and a much faster, ARPG-focused gameplay to the stand-alone expansion as well.
Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Prophecy will be available on PC on May 28 for $24.99, while those who already own a copy of Inquisitor – Martyr receive -30% off of their purchase for a limited time.
PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players will be able to pick the game up at a later date.
So, adepts from Mars can also become Inquisitors now.

I'm confused as to why this isn't a DLC. Can you play the tech adept and fight eldar and nids in the main game? Can you play the original classes in this one?
Just why in general?

Given their crumbling numbers, it's to coincide with their 2.0 launch
It's basically a soft reboot rather then a 2.0 styled relaunch to try and get people back to see the new changes.

I mean DH gave us the AdMech's versions of them. And I dont think DH denied them the chance to be one anyway.
But DH/ RT did make the Techpriests the one class that can be all Classes and be better than the originals.
As for this, I've still barely played Inquisitor beyond the first few hours.

Wow! Given the garbage product they've been bailing water out of since launch it's a pretty big douche move to not include this to those you fleeced for extra funds.

I'm hoping the gameplay update will improve things for me, as the clunky gameplay now has prevented me from putting in more hours on new characters.

I think Formosa just answered your question, Voss. I'm glad you got the refund and you should advertise that option for fellow players on reddit and/or the steam forums if it hasn't been signal boosted already. Scumbag moves like this shouldn't be rewarding.

Sure, they want to bump numbers, but the the 2.0 update is to the original game, and happens regardless of whether anyone buys this.
But that doesn't answer much- eldar and nids are new to this- are they being added to the main game? This gives a new class- can the old ones be played in this? Can people play with folks who have Prophecy but not Martyr? Or the other way around? The steam page, it says this continues the story of martyr (with one chapter just for this), so... presumably (I guess?) Martyr players will get chapters 2 and 3, but not the tech-adept focused chapter. Or do they?
Its a very odd and confusing way of handling an expansion to a 'service' game.

How'd you get the refund? What was the process you used? (i.e., did you use the season pass as an excuse, etc)

The expansion has been postponed until the 30th of July and more annoyingly, the 2.0 update that was supposed to drop today has been pushed back until the 20th of June. Quite disappointed that they did not announce this until earlier today, the original release date of said update.
Well, uninstalling it again and we'll see if they can stick to the next date.
They did unveil a more extensive change list of what's coming: https://neocoregames.com/en/community/warhammer-40k-inquisitor-martyr-compendium

July 30th for prophecy.
I'm amused that I still can't find any indication if the new enemies in prophecy will be added to the main game, or if prophecy is the real "live game' going forward.
----
The rationale for this debacle is also hilarious:
Neocore devs wrote:The reason for the late announcement is that we had to discuss the new release dates with our partners and we didn't want to announce the re-scheduling without the new dates.
Yep. That's it. The reason for the delay is... their partners. Or, more specifically, not talking to their partners until the last minute.
Going from their roadmap (buried amongst all the trivial DLC packs), it seems likely that the 'partners' are the console partners, and wanted the PC release bumped back to match their own (which is listed as part of the 'backlog')
https://neocoregames.com/en/roadmap
Or it just didn't occur to them to consult with their partners until far too late. None of it reflects well on Neocore.

Supposedly, I:M: P will be able to play with I:M, however I expect one game to always be either super buggy, or flat out broken and just not work.
Honestly, this stinks of a last ditch effort to get some more cash from their failed game by making this a spin off instead of DLC for the original, as it avoids the mixed review rating it has on steam (only 51% positive currently)

Yeah, I suspect Owlcat is doing the same thig with the enhanced edition of Pathfinder Kingmaker, though at least existing owners are getting that for free.
But it's basically just a new patch that sidesteps the review history of the existing product.
What a world.
I've noticed a lot of the current talk on neocore's forums and the steam discussions is... Chaosbane, and hope that it won't be as awful. Which I find amusing, but it's still a shame that 40k gets left in the lurch. It shouldn't be that hard to do a good version of this kind of game.

Facebook comments have not been kind about the upcoming date and I have my own doubts that they'll stick to it, but we'll see.
They did add more to the change list, so maybe more features and "upholding quality" will be used as the excuse to postpone it even further.

The update has actually been released and it's a mixed bag.
Gameplay feels faster, more responsive and more in line with what was expected. Certainly less clunky, that's a win. Loot drops are ramped up to the wazoo and you can change your gear ingame, which is a welcome change.
On the downside, all unlocked blueprints are gone, all tech research has been undone, but in return you're given an arbitrary refund of credits and renown.
Also, in some ways it feels like playing at alpha stage again...
It may look like I'm wading into a horde of enemies, but they're all dead and instead of turning into corpse models, they revert to standard standing models. There's also a problem with the shadows or something, as you can see a thin long line running from the left arm of my character down to the right of the screen.
Close but no cigar.

they've put out a few more small updates since the big one.
while i still get the odd dead but standing at attention enemy, i haven't had the odd thin line anymore (it seemed to be something odd with the purity seals trying to be way far from the character)

So I picked up the base game on the steam sale and I love it! I really do not understand all the hate the game gets, in a lot of ways, it's everything I wanted D3 to be before Blizzard went and decided to redo all their art with crayons.

Huh, I recall you being negative about this game before in the past.
In any case, the game has recently had a complete game play overhaul including the combat, which is a massive step forward in trying to make the game more playable and they have succeeded to varying degrees. However, before that we've had one or more years (early adopters and all that) of playing through a game that was clunky as all hell, very limited in scope and felt until well past its official release more as something still in an alpha phase, as opposed to a proper release.

I can't recall, but I might have been displeased with the original release. I bought it when it came out, refunded it and just recently repurchased it. It seems like it is so much better than it was, and I'm having a great time with it.
