As distraction from my long slog of an Imperial Guard project filling out an infantry brigade and armoured spearhead, I've decided to have a crack at some of the Space Marine Heroes range with a bit of kitbashing. Speed painting so many faceless grunts has definitely started to dent my enthusiasm for painting, so it'll be nice to try something that means I can really spend some serious time on each miniature.

To fit in with my black and grey guardsmen, I've decided to go for a blue-grey scheme, based off the fantastic Night Lords tutorial by Mezgike on Youtube. I think the scheme would quite nicely fit a Raven Guard successor chapter.

Rundown of the recipe

  • Basecoat Incubi Darkness

  • Rough highlight with Skavenblight Dinge

  • Sharper highlight with Dawnstone

  • Glaze Incubi Darkness into transitions with Skavenblight Dinge

  • Glaze Dawnstone into transitions with Skavenblight Dinge

  • Drakenhof Nightshade wash

  • Edge highlight with Dawnstone
