I got a new compressor with a tank. Unfortunately the instructions are very vague and short.

When I turn this on it runs for about 30 seconds and fills the tank up. The guage shows 57 PSI.

Now when I airbrush, this drops a bit, maybe 52 psi, but it seems to be shooting very strong. How do I lower this?

If i turn the regulator knob it lowers the gauge reading, but then the tank kicks on. My understanding is that the tank is supposed to fill up automatically to 57 psi and then stop. If it drops below 43 it kicks back on. This is what the gauge seems to be reading. My old tank I used the gauge as my working airbrush pressure.

How do I actually use this. I want to shoot the airbrush power at about 15-20 PSI onto my model. But the tank is so full it seems to be shooting higher. Do i need another gauge/regulator? Do I need to adjust something on the tank? Compressor?

If I'm understanding you correctly, when you adjust the pressure, say to 50psi, the compressor kicks in only until it hits 50psi? If so, the regulator you're adjusting is actually the compressor governor (effectively the "thermostat" setting, but for pressure). A second regulator (and possibly gauge) after the current setup's output would fix it.

The regulator should be regulating the pressure coming out of the tank, not the pressure that the pump fills the tank to. You'd expect the pump to still run to top up the tank. What happens if you turn the regulator down to 20 psi?
