I got my copy over the weekend. A few minor bugs aside, the game is great! It's everything I wanted in a modern metroidvania style game, with amazing art and music, a great story with interesting and fun characters and a whole bunch of exploration and itemization!

Has anyone else had a chance to try it yet?

I picked it up on the Switch last night. I'm not quite yet in LOVE with it. Feels like Order of Eclasia with character and monster designs I'm less in love with and there's something about 3D worlds in 2D games that feels off to me. Something about how they walk or something has never felt right.

That said, I'm very early in and enjjoying it. Cleared the first boss and starting to feel the game open up. Getting some weapon variety and a feel for the physics and combat. On that note, is there a way to equip and use 2 weapons? Looks and feels like there should be in the UI, but I can't seem to scroll to that second - under my weapon slot.

Anyway, I'm liking it. Definitely not disappointed in what I've played so far.

So far I haven't found any way to use two weapons, though I think there is a unique weapon that comes in two pieces. Look for the 8-Bit coin early on in the game, it allows you to buy super rare and powerful weapons early that will make some of the later boss fights a bit easier and more manageable.

My only complaint with the game is that it is a bit hard, I'm not super comfortable with their being no easy difficulty. Some of the boss fights come down to random luck, and I still maintain that the PC feels sluggish and slow.

The feel of the control feel is something of a Castlevania relic where the gameplay was designed to be very deliberate, with heavy jumps and a wind up on the whip that required a fair amount of forsight as things got harder. SotN was where things started to play a lot smoother and quicker there's a bit of the old style with certain weapons. The character here seems to be a bit slower horizontally and floaty vertically. Not my favorite style, but I haven't gotten into the Castle to see how well it meshes with bulk of the level design.

I backed this years ago, but feel quite bitter at how us investors got treated. Shall not be backing another game involving any of the parties involved in this.

The game is still sealed on the shelf because i’m too stubborn to play it.

Could you elaborate? The game is phenomenal, what's the problem?

Been playing it. Reminds me of Dawn of Sorrow which I enjoyed greatly.

I've got it for the XB1 and it is essentially a mix of SOTN, Aria of Sorrow and Order of Eccliesia. "Finished" the game, but I'm guessing its a SOTN thing where one needs glasses to see Richter's manipulator...

I didn't back the game as I have little time for crowd funded projects due to the "be thankfull we've got your money and are taking our sweet time over this!" attitude, and excuses over "unforeseen manufacture issues". In this case, I've been keeping an eye on its release date and its been put back two years in a row...I can imagine the frustration of backers - especially when they start going back on promises near the end of the production. To be fair, though, BS:ROTN seems to have been handled fair when the chips where down and didn't just leave its backers in limbo( talk to a backer of the Sinclair Vega+, if you want a real horror story! ).

The game itself doesn't quite feel as awesome as SOTN - its lacking the awfully-cheesy-but-ultimately-awesome opening, and the chatting can be a little annoying at times, but BS: ROTN is pretty damn awesome. Its the game I would have been grateful for back in the ps1/ps2 era, and to have so much returning talent( a certain voice actor has heeded the call of the fans! I won't say who! ) is heart warming.

phillv85, there has certainly been some ups and downs with the production of this game, and not everyone was happy with how it all turned out. I merely walked into a shop and bought a copy, but its thanks to your early investment I got to play the game at all. You put forward your money when Konami no longer valued my custom( I refuse to buy their products now; shaming their staff over tanoys was the final straw. ). To speak frankly, you've not only invested in Koji Igarashi, but also you have invested in me as a fellow gamer. Thank you for making a 22 year dream a reality.

Now rip that seal off and enjoy the game you helped to make! You deserve it!

Casual gaming, mostly solo-coop these days.
