Way way back when Citadel started doing paint sets (before the hexagon bottles that had the yellow citadel colour labels) they had one which was a brilliant shade of blue. It was slightly darker than Ultramarine blue, but it was richer in depth rather than dark/somewhere between what you may consider Nightlord's style and Ultramarine?

It also dried very matt. I'm sure that it was used as the original colour for Ultramarines, maybe pre-second edition?

Anyway I think I might have found it but I can't be sure as I've always had it in my mind as being before the above mentioned bottles.
The Coat d'Arms colour is listed as 'Enchanted Blue.

Does anyone have a recollection of the one I'm looking for? Or has used it?

Cheers Rybrook!
I nearly bought Enchanted blue yesterday but I wasn't entirely convinced it was what I thought it was.

Regal Blue is very close to Prussian Blue, pigment wise.
Enchanted Blue is pretty much Cerulean Blue.

Useful if you're looking to match with artists' acrylics as well.

Enchanted Blue is a metallic blue. I have a few bottles of it because I absolutely love it for helmet "eyes" and cockpit glass on my 'Mechs.

Enchanted Blue from Coat d'Arms is most definitely not an "Ultramarine-like" color. It is the old Citadel "Polished Blue."

Ah ok. The original citadel Enchanted Blue (which I thought was CDA's template) isn't metallic at all.

I guess if you want consistent paint names, go Vallejo!

The metallic blue paint was Polished Blue as seen HERE (kinda).

I still use Glistening Green on almost all my models. But in subdued amounts...

Lenses and gems mostly, the occasional laurel wreath. Sometimes power swords.

OK, I use a lot of it...

I thought you used the gemstone paints, but looking at your marines you can definitely see the green and I was wondering why I couldn't match the lens colour using gem paints

My favourite blue was "festering blue" - which probably has a Coat d'Arms equivalent. A beautiful mat, low-intensity blue, common on the studio Genestealers.

Huh, turns out that was a name they got to keep - lovely muted blue/grey.

Yup, I’ve got old pots of both the metallic green and blue and the soulstone paints that match. So these days I will often use the gem paints over the metalic to pop the color more than just over a basic silver.
