Well obviously I’ve got the Primaris ancient from the dark imperium box, but I also have some old marines with big poles and nothing to hang from them.
I have some half decent ideas for what I want the banners to look like, but what do you all use for banners? Paper? Super thin Green Stuff so you can bunch it up for permanent ‘folds’ modelled in? Melted plasticard? Copper foil?
What do you guys find gives the best results?

Photocopy off the back of the how to paint space marine book

Sicker banner from the command squad box:

Painted plastic (from the command squad box):

If you have the greenstuff skills to make a smooth sheet, that’s probably going to be the most natual looking. You might be able to get similar results with foil, or heat and bend thin plastic.

Best of luck, not a big fan of trying to make banners work myself.

I see a technique where people wash a piece of tissue paper and then cover it in PVA glue so you get a hardened effect where the flag falls. I've seen it a lot to replicate tarpaulins and I don't see why it couldn't serve as a flag!

Cheers!
Copied (by eye) them out of the old Angles of Darkness Codex. They're x2 scale so when printed, all the linework becomes really tight.
