So I have had 2-3 games now in my FLGS where someone has told me I cannot consolidate because the unit didn't kill the unit they were fighting or they weren't the specific unit that killed the unit, something like that.

I was 99% sure this was incorrect and reread the rule today. Consolidate has no restrictions other than moving closer to the enemy, basically a free 3" move. Is there an FAQ or errata I am missing? Or are people mixing up old rules from previous editions.... or even worse, trying to hobble my already hobbled Daemons of Slaanesh? lol

For the sake of clarity, it might be the case that you are unable to consolidate as the restriction for consolidating is that you must move closer to the enemy. If a model is already in base contact then it is unable to make a consolidate move as it can only ever end up equally close, not closer than it already is.

In the case you described, if all the models in your unit are in base contact with enemy models at the end of their fight then you are unable to consolidate. If that wasn't the case then you can indeed consolidate whether or not you have wiped out the enemy unit.

Yeah I was trying to be concise in my description but it wasn't due to me being in base contact. It mainly revolved around my blobs of Daemonettes and the back/third line of them being able to consolidate to wrap a unit. Guess people didn't want to get to stuck in with me.
