Greetings all.

I wanted to get some outside opinion on this 1000 pts list for our Escalation League.


Battalion Detachment.

HQ:

Farseer Skyrunner w/ Singing Spear
Spiritseer

Troops:

Dire Avengers x4 +1 Exarch with 2 Avenger Catapults.
Dire Avengers x4 +1 Exarch with 2 Avenger Catapults.
Dire Avengers x4 +1 Exarch with 2 Avenger Catapults.

Heavy:

Dark Reapers x4 +1 Exarch with Reaper Launchers.

Fast:

Windriders x3

Transports:

Waveserpent w/ 3x Shuriken Cannons & Vectored Engines
Waveserpent w/ 3x Shuriken Cannons & Vectored Engines
Waveserpent w/ 3x Shuriken Cannons & Vectored Engines


Would it be best to run this list as Biel-tan or another craftworld?
Also I have 7 points left over at this point.

Hey there, the list looks great, I've had some success with a similar list. At 1000pts I usually run only one wave serpent because they are a little costly and more if a defence unit than a damage unit. I would try dropping one of the serpents in favour of a squad of shining spears, fire dragons, or just more dark reapers.

On a side note: definitely use biel-tan because the re-roll 1s to hit will make a big difference at these lower point games. Biel-tan also gives you access to the spirit stone of anathlan, natural leader warlord trait, and the stratagem that gives you extra movement and re-roll 1s to hit in the assault phase(very good for shining spears).

Also, I think you'll find quicken to be the best psychic power in general from the runes of battle table.

Well, I don't like the look of three serpents in a 1000 point game. Especially upgraded like this. The vectored engines at the least could go, and I'd drop the underslung cannons as well. Serpents are annoyingly tough for their base points but as you invest more in them you undermine their base value. You don't really need to advance them, and in this case the -1 to hit you're causing yourself is probably worse than the -1 to hit you gain from vectored engines.

So, I'd start by trimming those down. Drop at least one and drop the upgrades. You could run two, with two DA squads sharing a ride in a single serpent, or even drop down to a single serpent and swap out the 3rd avenger squad for a squad of rangers or deep striking blob of guardians. DAs are our least competitive troop choice, unfortunately, so leaning on 3 units as your sole troops doesn't seem attractive to me.

I'm also not a huge fan of the 3 bikes. Upping the squad to 9 would be a nice option with the points trimmed from serpents. 3 realistically won't do much. You want a large unit to multiply the effectiveness of your powers and stratagems - a unit of 9 is a great target for things like guide, protect, LFR. Alternatively, I'd just drop the 3 and stick in a CHE/Hemlock depending on points.

I don't see any need for quicken in the above list. The strongest rune of battle powers by a country mile are jinx/protect. Quicken is great too, but you'll get more mileage out of jinx here.

Cool list.

Personally; I'd drop one of the serpents, drop Bikes and the singing spear from the farseer.

Conservative choice would be to take shining spears. plus a bike warlock instead of the spirit seer maybe depending on points. (This guarantees your jinx/guide/doom combo. Trick is to keep the reapers in guide range)

However at 1k points Id argue that putting spirit stones on the 2 serpents and taking warp spiders instead of spears might be an interesting build. I know people will bash me but Spirit stones plus -2 to hit on serpents from vectored engines mean they extremely difficult to remove and allow for those serpent shields to go off every round for 1cp = d3 MW. The spiders have insane movement and are very hard to remove due to the -2. And think they might really shine at low points games as budget spears..

I do like the idea of rangers better than DA's. They are very good objective campers and really frustrate your opponent.

I was getting some similar advice down at my FLGS tonight.

The suggestion there was to try this list.

HQ: Jetseer w/ Spear and a Spiritseer.

Troops: 3x 5 Dire Avengers with each squad having an Exarch with a second Avenger Catapult.

Heavy: 3 Dark Reapers, 2 with Reaper Launchers and the Exarch with a Tempest Launcher.

Fast: 5 Shining Spears with the Exarch having a Starlance.

Transports: 2 Wave Serpents with 3 Shuriken Cannons and with 17 pts left to spend maybe give one Star Engines to get the squads in it where you want them right away.

I played around on Battle scribe and came up with two variants. I did a budget seer by giving him falochus wing and the extra moment trait. You loose 1T and 1W but I think if your seer is getting shot at or attacked you aint doing it right! lol :

The downside is you loose a full smite from the spirit seer but gain seer council to make sure those powers do not fail. Also getting a full compliment of reaper shots.

Well, the original list looks good.
I'd take Biel-Tan because of all the shuriken weapons.
Drop the vectored engines and give the Farseer a jetbike.
