How do?

So, I've been getting all in a lather over Chaos Knights. Big stompy bad guys. What's not to like!

Well, I'll tell you. No practical way to properly access the weapon combos I can field. See, the Imperial Knight sprues share the arm mounts across a couple of sprues - one of which is the basic body sprue, the other the basic (original) weapon sprue. Now, at the time that made sense, because there was only the one weapon sprue.

Then?

This came out. Adding new weapon systems. But no mountings for them. And that means if I want a second Avenger Gating Cannon - GW can't simply make this sprue available separately.

But hey, OK. Let's be semi-rational here. This was a different era of GW. And since then, they've got a bit smarter. Let's look at the new Chaos Knight weapon sprue, mmm?

So far as I can tell, all the bits and bobs you need to arm your Knight. Lovely. That means, in theory, GW could release that sprue on it's own.

Which is exactly how they've handled Titanicus. All your Titans? Weapons and Armour are separate Sprues to the Body. So the same chassis and that can be package with different weapons (see Warlord and Reaver) - but also the weapon sprues released separately.

And for big stuff like Knights? It opens up the army for those who want them, but are on a budget more restrained. Consider. A Warlord Titan is £65. That's.....pretty hefty. A Knight? £95 with that sprue. Both are solid amounts of money if all you're looking to do is double up a weapon system. But the Warlord? £26, lots of new models.

GW. Give us the same for Knights as you did for AT. Please!

It generally massively frustrates me how stingy GW are with accessories in their kits. Stuff like not being able to build a full squad of CSM Terminators with their default loadout of combi-bolter and chainaxe really bloody grates. New Havocs? With new cool powerful minigun? Sign me up! Oh you only get one in the box. Cheers.

Be careful, in my thread I was called out for being too "whiny" when I said the release was a bit of a let down and that many bits are actually few bits.

HA you complain about the termites. I find it more frustrating that we only get 8 bolters and 7 chainswords for regular csm. Making the standart loadout (which is enforced after 10 man in a squad) impossible to build.
Also, really another Sm box with a missile launcher? Even though autocannons are the whole schtick of csm?

A Mostly Renegades and Heretics blog.
GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.

This one in particular frustrate me because of how similar Heavy Bolters, Autocannons and the Reaper chaincannon are if you remove their respective barrels. The kit could have easily been designed with 4 belt-fed guns with alternate barrels attachments to make either 4 HB, 4 Autocannons or 4 Reapers (or mix-n-match)

Well, yeah. That would have been much better.

My thinking at the moment, for as and when I get round to buying some havocs, is that I still have a useless Heldrake autocannon sat around doing nothing, and it looks close enough to a minigun to be stuck on as a replacement barrel on a heavy bolter. Assuming the scale is OK.

Especially annoying as the Marine Devastator box got 2 Grav Cannons included when they got access to it.

More options in kit = better, always.

And They Shall Not Fit Through Doors!!!

The Militarum Tempestus Scions kit. I feel you. Also, Taurox Primes can take a heavy stubber, but doesn’t even come with one in the kit.

If the truth can destroy it, then it deserves to be destroyed.
