Hi all! Been swilling this idea around in my head for a wee while, and wondered if anyone has any tips.

ATM, purely hypothetical.
My admech army (currently under construction) is roughly as follows:
2 10-man ranger units with arquebus
2 5-man vanguard units with plasma
1 unit of kataphron destroyers w. Plas
2 onagers (no certain load out yet)
2 5-man units of sicarians
1 10-man unit of hopilites (riding the new transport thingy, might grab more for the vanguards or sicarians or something)
3 iron striders (maybe)
Some priests

So, currently, the plan is to have a mix of sit back and shoot, have some forward troops to take objectives, and then a few pesky harrass-y units. While not cutting edge, I think it'll be a fun army, and a very reasonable collection to pick units from for smaller games.

Purely from a collection/I was thinking this is cool, and like the ranges standpoint, I have been toying with getting some marines into the mix. Initially I was going to do an iron hands successor chapter, using the finecast resin upgrades, and the FW mkiii marines and medusan immortals, with a view to working in the forgefather and new primaris fella.

But on the topic of marine ranges I like, but never had a reason to buy (as a black templars player) I suddenly thought of the deathwatch troops box. Whilst I'm pretty at home with vanilla marines, DW is a total unknown to me. Ideally, I'd get some synthesis between the two ranges, like an all-iron hands dw force (but like in headcannon not actually proper DW, just very xenophobic quasi-renegade marines on the brink of extinction, looking for some revenge)

ATM, DW seems to be hotness. So my question to you, fair and gentle Dakkanauts - what would you advise, for a nice little add-on to my admech? Not looking for anything game breaking, but a kind of fun booster that can raise a bit of hell every now and then. Thinking about 15 marines and then characters. Might be open to more, but that's the ideal.

Cheers for looking, and a very big thanks for putting up with my rambling dumb dumb ness!

Needs more heresy.

I'd wait for the regular SM update, since that seems to be turning out rather fancy.

A Mostly Renegades and Heretics blog.
GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.

Larger footprint armies like AdMech or Guard are natural complements to Deathwatch. The latter are exceptional at putting concentrated fire on targets, but dont really have the staying power to control the board.

In the case of a DW/AM combo, id focus on board control with Skitarii and AT from Neutronagers and the new Skorpius. Maybe some chickens for early game pressure if you're feeling spicy. Deathwatch is one of, if not the best, armies at hunting non-vehicle units of every kind, be they bikes, infantry or monsters, so leave them to do their work while your Mars-bois slag the other things.

I’ve got to admit, I’m thinking Blood Ravens to go with mine.

Ahh, Not Online!!!先生! I promise the dark gods still have my ear. Grandfather Nurgle has certainly had my throat for the last few weeks... (guess I'd rather him than slaanesh?)
...I'll get round to the renegades in a while, I've left them in the UK, and am working on a few other projects for the time being, trying to hit my stride again after moving around so much, and it turns out working in Japan makes one a rather busy boy...
Very valid point about waiting for the dust to settle with regards to the new SM releases, though I might be tempted to pre-empt this with the old resin GW Iron Hands upgrade, just because I imagine it'll get retired and replaced with the new releases.

Ooh, sounds like you know what you're talking about. Are there any auto-take loadouts for DW, or is it mostly a case of cater to your opponent? I know that storm bolters and shields was V. popular for a while, but it seems like that got nerfed? No?

Cheers for the input, guys!

Also! Most of the HH iron hands models I'm eyeing up just have plain old bolters - are they any good with DW? I imagine I can just swap them out.

AND! The Medusan Immortals have great big boarding sheilds. As DW can take sheilds, are there any particularly tasty way of running this?
