Apoc Field Manual Page 33 wrote:In the Damage phase, starting with the player who has the Initiative, players alternate selecting a unit in their army that currently has any blast markers next to it, and then resolving damage for it as described below. If any SUPER-HEAVY units have any blast markers next to them, damage must be resolved for them before damage is resolved for any other units.
Does "damage must be resolved for them before damage is resolved for any other units" mean that if Player A has three Super-Heavy units and Player B has none:

  • Player A resolves damage for all three Super-Heavy units back to back
  • Players Alternate but Player A must resolve his Super-Heavy units before any of his other units.

  • It seems the instructions to alternate and to resolve damage for Super-Heavy units before ANY other units are contradictory.

Because a lot of Command Assets state "this may result in damage having to be resolved for a unit more than once in the same phase" suggests to me that normally you cannot do this, thus would suggest that the Super-Heavy units are resolved Back-To-Back, so that if they explode/collapse they don't cause Blast Markers to be placed on units that Damage has been resolved for already, as it does not say mention damage having to be resolved for a unit more than once in the same phase.

Superheavies override the standard sequence. So player a would resolve all 3 superheavies before any of player bs units.

The only unclear thing is the order when both players have superheavies. RAW you'd have to dice it for each one.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Its because super heavys explode. They want to make sure that any units that would be caught in the explosion gain their additional blasts before they start rolling saves.

So yes. Player a resolves all super heavies first. Then player b. Then play a etc etc..

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Lance, how do you come to that from the quoted rules? Would it not be A picks one, B picks one etc. until no superheavies remain and then carry on with the rest A, B, A etc.? I can't see any reason why you'd suddenly go for full side resolution.

Edit: ah, I'm blind. Yes, A does all superheavies, then B does a normal one and so on.
