So, as I converted up all the old Space Marine characters, I plan to update Kor'Sarro Khan with his Primaris incarnation but I'm struggling to find a good alternative to the Psyber Eagle he carries. I'm open to both technological and animal based alternatives just as long as it accurately conveys the idea that its a substitute for the Eagle.

For reference, this is a quick mockup of what I'm going with. Planning to swap the head as well, and remove the bolt rifle entirely

How about an aetherwing from AoS?

That might be a good option, I'm not sure though if I want to go with an eagle or any animal at all. Maybe some other sort of weapon or gear could portray the same effect?

The simplest gear choice I can think of is a servo skull with an inbuilt gun. It's Imperial, but otherwise nondenominational and should fit in anywhere, even Mongol Space Marines.

While it might not be easy to fit on the base depending on which base model you use, a (cyber) hunting dog would fit the theme as well.

Malifaux Raptors might do the job.

Credit LunarSol, Maulifax Raptors - Pros - expensive and large, again need base


Credit Geifer - hunter dog - Pros - Super dope Cons - finding the damn thing, base

Credit Geifer - Serving skull - going to drop this one as I'm not a fan of servo skulls but thanks for the suggestion!


Other ideas

Space Wolves Fenrisian wolf - as my marines are Blood Ravens, "borrowing" other stuff is in theme. Pros - Cool Cons - Needs base, would ask questions if he's a Space Wolf

Necron Scarabs - given I'm using a Deathwatch Xenophase blade as his weapon, which is secretely a Necron blade, having 4 scarabs under his control might be in keeping with the idea Pros - Epic idea, Cons - Serious heresy

Dragon Familiar from High Elf dragon lord - Pros - Small enough to fit Cons - need to write fluff, maybe too small


Space Marine Librarian Cherub - Pros - in keeping with Space Marines as it came with a kit, would accurately fill void of Eagle Cons - I hate the thing, there's a reason its not on my librarian

KNIGHT VENATOR/AZYROS BIRD - Pros - is bird Cons - Needs base but doesn't naturally have one





Anyone want to give feedback on this one?

So I've narrowed it down to just two options now and not really sure which one I lean towards most.

The first option is the Aximillion, Rottweiler looking dog from the Rogue Trader box, as a sort of hunting hound type thing.

The second is a swarm of Necron Scarabs. With his Necron-esque sword and pose, it would be like he's directing the swarm at his target. Scarabs would either be just a swarm on its own base, or leaping off his base at a target
