Having recently found my Epic 40 horde I've restarted on my Tyranid infantry. I am using the long, as opposed to the square, basing system, which is what I got with these figures. My Lictors and Tyranid warriors were still on the sprues. The rest were already based in 5s in those black bases you get with the plastic infantry sets.

Looking online, it looks like people base the Lictors on 1p bases (some kind of round base), while the Tyranid warriors are in 3s on some long base, but not as long as 40mm.

What size are people using for the Tyranid warriors? I guess they make their own bases? Is this in the rules Armageddon somewhere?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I had 12 sprues with this infantry on. Is there anything on there in waaaay excess for a single army, such as 1 Lictor per sprue? I don't want to waste time painting things that I have no chance of using.

Armageddon for the most part doesn't care how you base your things as long as you mostly follow the guidelines of "at least one dimension 20 mm, preferably no dimension over 40 mm". Round, rectangle, everything goes.

Suggested model counts are 3-7 infantry per base, 2-4 bikers etc. per base and things like dreadnoughts on their own. So three warriors and one lictor per base sound reasonable.

I will look up some battle reports to see, practically, how people base them.

I just want to follow the conventions as that will smooth out any difference in play for base variations.

Sherry pie just gave you the conventions - well, the explicit game rules actually.

I based mine like GW did for Epic 40,000; three Warriors or one Lictor on a standard Epic “strip” base trimmed town to 3/5 its usual length (i.e. cut off the two outer holes).

Alternatively, the 2nd Edition Space Marine method - 3 Warriors or one Lictor on a 20mm square base would also be appropriate.

If you’ve got loads of Warriors you might otherwise never use, you could put seven Warriors on a 40mm base to make a mighty swarm.

Termagants and Genestealers on standard 40x10(ish) bases, Lictor and Warriors on cut down 24ish by 10ish bases, Hive Tyrant on a 20mm square, Dominatrix on a 50x25mm base and a Heirophant on a 70mm round base (i.e. one just big enough for it to fit)
