United States is rank #11 on the 2014 Elo40k list, and your guy is in the top half of the team according to your words. I'm not trying to piss you off or take anything away from this guy, as I don't know him and don't have a horse in the race, but I'm not sure what you're trying to gain by pumping someone's tires.

Not sure what you are trying to gain by doing otherwise. Sounds in general like you want to pump Europe as having the best players and they certainly have proven to have some of the best teams. But ETC play is very different than 1 on 1 tournament play. But unless your assertion is that regularly placing high in 200+ person tournaments, and doing well at the ETC, at which I already stated I would argue everyone is among the best players globally (do you disagree here?). No one is arguing he is the best player in the world. Just among the best.

For ETC analysis best to look at Tony's individual record - it shouldn't be averaged out.

Not sure what words I put in your mouth just how your complaint is being perceived. Yes it is as easy as I think....

DB,
Upshot of my post: Drop Pods have been my biggest concern, an unbeaten army, for my Serpent Spam.

Short version: Although playing for 10 years, my overall Win/Loss record is pretty bad, through 5e to 6e. In 7e I have been playing 4 Serpent Spam to a winning record. At BAO, I went 4/2 W/L. I lost to Grant/GTA (Mr. ITC #1 at the time, if not still) and the Renaissance Man (Chris Long).

Besides facing superior players like those guys, Drop Pods have been my hardest match up.

Longer version:

Why do drop Marines eat serpents? They can jink then zoom away leaving them stranded.

It's hard to "leave 'em stranded" when there are 7 to 9 Drop Pods fulla those Emprah lovin' fools all over the table. They'll get at least one crew in for an assault and it's a dead tank.
'Course, they will already have bagged one or two others with the Sternguard (or HQ Cmd. Sqd) melta-spam. And they get First Blood. I foolishly castled once, and actually got trapped, unable to skim a full 12" to OverWatchCNC's superior tactics (he's a way better player than I am). I won't do it again. The other Drop Pod losses (two separate games) were to the guy who tied jy2 at BAO.

Plus, you gotta bag the Drop Pods offa objectives. I think my MathHammer says two salvos to destroy one Drop Pod
With the 4 Scatter shots - Most hit, but no glance
4.5 shots (average) with the Shield - Most hit, but STR7 vs AV12 = 1 glance/pen

Second Salvo:
With Scatters - odds come up for a glance, factoring in both salvos
4.5 shots - fudging toward 2 glance/hits and finally 3 Hull Points

I think. Smarter Math-boyz can hammer out the odds.

Making Serpents jink in 7th drastically reduces their threat though. I'll gladly take twin linked snap shots over 3+ to hit.

White Scars can do a pretty good number on them too.

If we use any FW at all, it will definitely at MOST be 40K-approved, and this one was clear.

This was also the ONLY response where the largest minority was in the camp of "I would not participate if you legalized these for the GT."
.
I'm pretty sure this is misleading. You could rephrase it as, "Who owns FW stuff that is not 40k approved?" and you would probably get those same numbers.

Tournament players don't buy things that they can't use and this is an easy way that they don't have to face that stuff. You may be penalizing the collector who wants to play with his/her cool looking, crappy FW unit because the hardcore peeps want to cut down on the variables

I own almost every Ork model Forgeworld makes, and much of it is not 40k approved. I am still against it being included in the GT. If I want to use it, that is what the narrative is for. I don't think that 'collectors' are clamoring to junk up the GT with every possible option. The Meta is pretty diverse without the need for everything.
