I’ve really been enjoying converting everything and was wondering what kits have the most leftover bits. Preferably for orks but I’ll take advice on stuff I can use with orks as well.

Off the top of my head Adeptus Titanicus Warhounds have a bunch of leftovers on the sprue, I want to say GSC infantry are up there as well.

If you're looking for just bits that work for Orks you might look at Admech kits.

Anything in the middle of GW's production.

Originally (90's) plastic kits were few and far between and limited. Then in the late 2010's they started down the "no model, no rules" and "monopose", direction and you started getting far fewer bits.

In the middle, say...2003-2016 you had GW getting better and better with plastic and producing loads more bits. Some Space Wolf kits had an absurd number of options, bits, and doo-dads. The older character sprues for Space Marine captains etc. used to come with a load of spare pieces. Veterans and Death Watch have quite a bit going on.

So...aim for the middle of GW's production.

Monopose is a more recent thing? I’ve heard people mention it and I would have sworn that was a 80s thing!

But ya so far I picked up a lot of orks and I guess they are older boxes because there was so many leftovers and I’ve been having fun just building boyz into everything else.

For Orks the Burna/Lootas box is good as you can build both with a few more boyz bodies, and the Meganobz box has spare bitz (but isn't cheap).
You can also build multiple Mek Gunz out of a single box a Trukk box - there are videos on YouTube and other guides around.

Monopose metal was an 80s/90s thing, then we had multi-pose plastics. Recently they've gone back to monopose-ish models in order to include more detail and better poses (allegedly).

Funny you should mention that. Two of the boxes that came in the lot I bought were meganobz and Burnas! Maybe that’s why I had all this extra stuff to work with.

Don't know if they're the best but the Sylvaneth Tree Spite/Revenant kit seems to have a ton of leftover bits.

You're not. If you're worried about your opponent using 'fake' rules, you're having fun the wrong way. This hobby isn't about rules. It's about buying Citadel miniatures.

Tyranids tend to have a lot of spare parts within their kits. Many duel kits and things like carnifex will have loads of spare bits left over - heads, arms, armour plates, etc... Of course some kits have far less - Genestealers have very little waste.

That said its pretty much all organic parts; though the armour plate off a carnifex might well suit the orks to steal and bolt onto the side of a vehicle.

Havocs have a bunch of weapons for when you want to upgrade some CSM squads.

Ork boyz are one of the holly grail units for bits.

Chaos terminators, but only in regards to gardenfence spikes.

Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"

My vote is for the Coven Throne:
https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Vampire-Counts-Coven-Throne
If built like this, left over you have a necromancer & 3 banshees.
Character models are around £8 each so that's £32 of models + the throne for just £37.5 (at full, non-discounted, price).

I’ve actually been looking at terminators. I was gonna build them with ork heads and give them a Bad
Moon paint job. The chaos set looks like a good option.

Grey knight strike squad........bits on bits on bits, after building 10 strike with halberd you get
10 interceptor packs
8-10 force swords
8-10 pairs of falcions (power sword size)
2-4 heavy weapons (if you didnt use any on the base squad)
2 thunder hammers (if not used on base squad)
Multiple seals,packs and extras
And im sure I've forgotten some stuff.
How much you could use for orks well thats down to your imagination.

i was surprised lately by the amount of bits left in the "chaos spawn kit". if you're in need of some weird heads, tentacles and other bizar bodyparts, this is the kit you need

8000 points fully painted
hive fleet belphegor 3500 points
1k sons killteam

Dakka is the ork word for shooting, but the ork concept of shooting is saturation fire. Just as there is no such thing as a "miss" in a target-rich environment, there is no such thing as a "dodge" in a bullet rich one

You wouldn't happen to have 10 tentacles spare at all? Just got another 10 Bloodletters & I need them for their tails.

It's hard to go wrong for bits in Ork kits (with the notable exceptions of the recent buggy releases, which have no leftovers at all).

My personal favorite is the Nobz box, as it's ridiculously easy to convert a bunch of characters out of one of those (and to upgun any AoBR nobz you have lying around with the spares) and you'll inevitably end up with some, anyway. Need a Big Mek with KFF (maybe not now, with legends approaching)? Slap some spare tech-y looking bits on his back (I used a couple of the power cell sphere things I had left over from cutting down KMBs to fit Deffkoptas), bash that pistol into a rivet gun/drill/welder/etc., and give his choppa a few wrench-looking tweaks and you're golden. Looking for another weirdboy? Go nuts with the wonky bits you were never sure you'd find a use for and slap a big choppa-turned-staff in his hand (or steal a spare from your runt herders) and you're golden.

If you don't mind getting creative, you can even up-armor them into meganobz with a bit of work. I happen to like the extra armor + shield look (no way my boyz are being out stupid-ed by some pansy orgyn), but more traditional looks are possible, too. And you're getting about five times as many meganobz for the same cost, which doesn't hurt.

Also, I'll second the AdMech comment, just perhaps not in the same way. Those kits are lousy with weapons and doodads that are worthless to an actual AdMech player (a lot of them are terrible choices, in-game), but they make amazing fodder for looted Ork KMBs, mek gunz, wazbom upgrades, grot tanks, etc..

Courageous Space Marine Captain

A lot of the Space Marine kits have bunches of leftovers. I know for a fact the Tactical Squad has loads of heads and shoulder pieces leftover, plus some guns. The Space Wolf kit has like 50 heads in it to represent helmets, blood claws, grey hunters, wolf scouts and wolf guard. The Deathwatch Veterans kit has enough spare weapons to outfit another 3-4 guys. The Grey Knight kits has enough weapons to outfit every model with a Sword, Halberd, pair of Falchions, or 1 hammer or stave. Plus, the PA kit has 2 Psycannons, 1 Incinerator and 1 Psilincer per kit, while the TDA kit also has 6 alternate helmets, 2 bare heads, 1 of each heavy weapon, a banner and an apothecary arm. Plus each of the above has the standard decorative bits.

The Sternguard and Vanguard veterans however are something else. THe former have bolters, combi weapons and heavy weapons galore, plus decorative elements, a sword, multiple heads and loads of shoulders. THe Vanguard comes with 4x thunder hammer, 4x storm shield, 4x lightning claw pairs, a relic blade, plasma pistols, bolt pistols, chainswords, power sword, power axe, power fist, grav pistol, and more shoulder pads and heads than you can believe.

Nobz box is really awesome as it has plenty of spare weapons, enough to outfit almost every model with big guns, big choppas or power klaws, or choppa and slugga.

Well, the 10 pack is just 2 of the 5 man boxes put together. As said, each and every model in that kits gets a stormbolter arm + ammo box, a helmet, body and legs, plus shoulder pads with alternate pads for the sergeant. But, weapons wise, each model gets a force sword, halberd, or falchions pair. 1x hammer per 5 models, 1x stave per 5 models. 1x psilincer per 5, 1x incinerator per 5, 2x psycannon per 5 models. So 2 or 4 for the 10 box. PLUS, each model has 2 backpacks, one footmounted for Strike, Purgator or Purfier, and 1 with teleporter rods for Interceptor squad, so essentially a jump pack.

THEN there's decorative bits including left hands in fits, pointing, holding things. Purifty seals, boots, robes, daemon skulls, etc.
