I started an Iron Warriors army for 30k and would like to have a bit of criticism. I'm still debating on what to do with the base. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

It feels a little plain, have you tried some ink on it?

As for the base, silver will really stand out from most terrain, so it's really whatever you want to go with. My default is mixed sandy terrain with some flock patches - something that could easily be scrub land anywhere.

I prefer to buy from miniature manufacturers that *don't* support the overthrow of democracy.

Definitely needs some inks or washes. You should base them on green undergrowth for max contrast

I washed it with a watered down mix of agrax earthshade. Maybe another wash only in the recesses?

I had thought of doing the martian crackle paint on the base with some flock.

Some black up in the recesses with a thin brush would look good, also try sponging some of your base color up his shins as IW are trench fighters.

It looks cool to me, if maybe a little too "clean" for the down to earth IWs... OTOH, mine are similar.

Sponging Leadbelcher then? I would have assumed sponging some Rhinox Hide around the model for a chipping effect.

Looking at this on a 4k monitor, I can see some washes were applied. This photo may not be capturing the true colors very well.

My concern is shadows. The fingers on the boltgun could use some more depth to sell the idea this is iron and not chrome armor. I can see the edges where a dark wash was applied, I think you need pin washes on that particular model to drive home the effect.

Other than that - basing.

Sorry I meant the color of your bases. If you do a Mars base sponge on some brown or red with a little orange. If you’re doing a city rubble base sponge on some light gray. Dried dust is typically a shade lighter than mud.
