Hi all - another world-class McBogus query!

I'm painting a WHFB Dwarf Slayer as like a one-off thing, and was thinking about giving him some neat protective tattoos. Anyone got any tips?

As of the minute, thinking of incubi darkness, and then glazing the fleshtone over the top? Maybe a cheeky highlight on the green before the glaze? IDK, I'm a big dummy.

Thanks for lookin!

sounds like youre on the right track. hope you've got a steady hand. I assume youre doing a norse/tribal pattern design. keep it fairly simple and you should be good.

You could try contrast paints on a small brush - no thinning required, and that's the tough part when it comes to doing freehand stuff like tattoos, getting the paint consistency just so.

Draw out the design first.
I made the mistake on not doing that & I really hate how they turned out (on my Slayer bust - click on gallery link in my sig).
I also did a thin wash of flesh over to 'age' the tats.

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

I've been contemplating this for when my 13th Company Wolves reach the skin stage. You might consider these:

I'm using these to draw checkerboard patterns and it's WAY easier than a brush. Your finger can wipe them off so be careful, just be sure to varnish afterwards.

Haha, we have loads of these in Japan, I use them to write on purity seals. I might have to check my local comic shop to see if they have any in an appropriately tattoo-ish colour.
