1 does a dedicated transport becomes troop and opsec rule if it's currently carrying troops? (I think I'm remembering this is a 7th edition rule but It came up in a game and couldn't find it)
2 fire warrior accompanying drone unit become a separate unit after deployment are they troops?
3 riptide with a novaboost ability 2D 6 in the charge phase, and then proceeds to charge.
4 Coherency and measuring vertical distance is it diagonal or not? For example for measuring holding objectives on a second floor of a building they need to be directly over it or not?

4) Diagonal. Measurements are always in 3 dimensions unless otherwise specified.
I’ll defer to T’au players for the other Qs.

1) No.
2) Correct.
3) I believe it can. It can't use the Boost to move within 1" of enemy models without charging anymore, but as far as I can see it can Boost and then declare a charge. Boost is not a replacement for declaring a charge. I just saw the new errata.
Page 106 – XV104 Riptide Battlesuit, Nova Reactor Change the Boost text to read: ‘This model can move 2D6" in your Charge phase. You cannot use this ability to move within 1" of any enemy models. If it does so, this model cannot declare a charge that phase.’
4) All measurements are made in three dimensional space. Objectives project a 3" sphere around them, and any part of a models base (or hull if it doesn't have a base) must be within that 3" to be in range of an Objective.

That's crazy, the day I asked the question it gets an errata. Only thought about it 2 weeks ago so not too much use
Still a little confused on number 2, so I'll rephrase. Does the drone unit after it's deployed, bc it was accompanying a troop, does the drone unit have obsec?

Is the drone unit a troop choice from a battleforged list?

No, drones are fast attack. They can deploy with a troop choice, but they become separate units, once deployed.

Check the rules for Tactical Drones again, specifically ones that are bought with a unit. (You will find these rules on Page 109 Codex Tau, under the Drone Support ability, 3rd sentence).
P.S. OP, I am assuming by "fire warrior accompanying" you mean drones that are bought with a Strike Team. If that is not the case then you will have to explain further.

I know that tau troops can pick drones as "wargear", or "equipment". But nothing says the drones become a troop choice, once they are deployed. They become a separate unit, and drones are fast attack.
Drone Support: When a unit is set up on the battlefield, any accompanying Drones are set up in unit coherency with it. From that point onwards, the Drones are treated as a separate unit.

You clearly did not read the rules for Tactical Drones, specifically Page 109 in Codex Tau, under the Drone Support ability, 3rd sentence.
What you posted seems to be from Page 99.

Judging from context clues, I'm gonna assume the rule says "Drones taken as wargear for Fire Warriors count as Troops" or something like that, but kinda wish you'd just quote the relevant rule instead of beating around the bush with "check this page".

Do you know why we post the page numbers instead of the rules?
Because, as Yakface said
Yakface wrote:This forum isn't a replacement for not having the rules in hand.
If you have a question about rules because they are not clearly written, that's fine, but just to simply ask how the rules work instead of getting access to the rules yourself is not something that is allowed.
In this case the rules are clear if you have the rulebook, and the forum isn't a replacement for the rules.
