So I was interested in an attempt at a Skaven army, and the Moulder jumped out at me as kind of interesting so I went with them. Basically the idea is throw the pack units at the enemy and weaken them then let the abomination do it's magic.

I'm not exactly a Skaven expert, but my first thought is that at 1k the battalion probably isn't worth it. Especially as you aren't using the free artefact.

160 points is a lot at 1k and you could probably do more by spending it on actual units.

Yeah, but that battalion effect decreases the roll I need to return a destroyed pack unit to the field, which frees up the artifact slot for something to boost the wound count on the Abomination.

Packmasters aren't generally a good choice; for 40 more points a master moulder does the same thing but is more durable, can use command abilities, fights better, and heals stuff. Better to take a min-size unit of giant rats for board control/objective camping.

The battalion is solid, but it forces you to take packmasters and there's a command trait that does the same thing. At 2k points you can afford to eat the packmaster cost; in that case you put a different master moulder (not the general) in the battalion so that you have two models which can bring units back on a 4+ since one of them will inevitably die.

Speaking of command trait, the moulder supreme seems nice but it amounts to an average of 1.5 extra wounds on an abomination. Which is nice, but what you are really after is the re-roll 1s to hit, which you get anyways. That 1.5 extra wounds also means less on a model that will be healing so many of them. Your best bets for command trait are hordemaster or verminous valor, depending on how much your local meta is able to snipe your character.

You already figured out that the abomination is awesome and the rabid crown is auto-take so I won't go into that. Note that the HPA went up to 240 points in the Skaven errata.

I would drop the battalion & packmasters. Pick up another master moulder then combine the rat ogors into one unit of 6 to free up enough points for a 40-blob of giant rats. Keep the 10-man rat unit around for objective duty.

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.
