Yep, he is still alive and kicking.

He was in the latest Fabius Bile book which if I remember correctly is set currently or there about.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

I think it’s a bunch of rumour he is, so basically alive until said. Even if it’s been a very long time. And some of the rumour could be fun to see make it into the army.
But I would not hold out for that myself.

Yeah, I can see it now.
New Lucius and five noise marines, plus a chaos rhino and bike squadron versus new khan the betrayer and five new beserkers, plus a maulerfiend!

Now THAT would be a boxed set worth getting!! But we should still drop the Rhino. I thought a Forge/Mauler should have been in the new battle force set....

SONIC DREADNOUGHT!!! Yeah, Lucius, 6 Noise Marines, Sonic Dread and 12 Daemonettes vs. Kharne, 8 Beserkers, Maulerfiend and 8 Bloodletters. How would that be for a sweet boxed set?

This would be a horrible idea right now.

It would either a) reflect the upgraded loyalist marine changes and be vastly superior to everything else Chaos can field or b) adhere to the current restrictions under which Chaos currently operates and be utter trash.

Then we'd wait a year for World Eaters.

Screw that.

Games Workshop is unlikely to do that in the case of an Emperor's Children release; what they will do is make some worthless brand new special character with no basis in the background with fantastic 'fluffy' (byword for useless) rules.

Even then it's easy enough to use Eidolon with his Forge World model (from his description in the latest Fabius book, Eidolon's hasn't changed that much bar his grim face). He'd be easy enough to field as a Chaos Lord with Thunder Hammer, Jump Pack and Plasma Pistol (to represent his sonic attacks).

The biggest indicator someone is a loser is them complaining about 3d printers or piracy.

I think if we see Eidolon or not largely depends on if EC get a codex or a supplement. If they follow the DG and TS style of having a codex, then I expect we'll see a bunch of unnamed characters (mostly elite) like those did. If they follow the Supplement model, then we could see a new named special character with extra aura/buff/ability. (Of course there's nothing saying GW has to follow either style exactly.) If EC were to get a new special character model, I'd bet they get a new Fabius Bile sculpt before a whole new character. But if it IS a whole new character, it would likely be Eidolon.

But the real question is if they'll get Fulgrim?

Always 1 on the crazed roll.

Fulgrim is a certainty. There have been a number of sightings in the recent fluff which describe him (or something incredibly similar).

The question is, who will be the supporting cast.

Lucius is an obvious choice for a new model but Fabius Bile seems to be getting fluff lately as well e.g. wants to get his hands on Primaris geneseed and mentioned in the Salamanders supplement I believe. Again, Fabulous Bill will be a safe bet.

Eidolon, not very likely.

New noisemarines, a certainty. Given all cult troops seem to be getting an update. If however the pattern so far is followed it would mean new EC terminators, which could be interesting.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

EC should get to keep their Forgefiends and Maulerfiends unlike DG/TS so I'm imagining it as a supplement more in line with the SM things than what TS and DG get.

HQ
Lord of Profligacy: Chaos Lord on bike. Aura of "make a melee attack when you die" and if he hasn't already attacked when he is destroyed he stays on the table until he makes his attacks, when he is removed from the table he can attack again with all his melee attacks and shoot with all his shooting weapons.

Troops
Manswine Carnalvores: Beastmen with pig hooves and a mixture of pig faces and boar faces. Armed with goring tusks and either manskewer spears or shotguns. They have the ability to start the game in reinforcements and enter the battlefield from within 6" of a battlefield edge. Re-roll failed wound rolls against units with a low Leadership. Manskewer spears let units make additional attacks with their goring tusks/venomous fangs once for each wound.

Elites
Master of Stimulants: Gets a random buff at the start of the game, shares it with an Infantry or Beasts unit.
Phoenix Guard: Armed with power spears that double as ranged weapons at short range. M6.
Sonic Dreadnought: Same as the one in the index.
Sublime Champion: Wracked with a variety of gifts that makes him deadly in melee, improves the gift table for nearby units.
Cacophonous Conductor: Has a pair of pistols and improves the effectiveness of shooting, particularly noise weaponry of nearby units.

Fast Attack
Slitherspawn Brushhunters: Naga-like creatures. Armed with deafening screeches, venomous fangs and manskewer spears. They have a high Movement characteristic and their deafening screeches can prevent Overwatch.

Heavy Support
Tormentor Daemon Engine: Impulsor kind of thing, it can Fly. The top half looks serene, the bottom half is wracked with daemon infested bits of living material. It has two huge cannons, one above and one below.

Flyer
Bedlam Hell Talon: Hell Talon with sonic weaponry.

Lords of War
Fulgrim: Big snek, M18, 6 D3 sword attacks, 6 D1 tailswipes (D d3 against CHARACTERS), 6 D1 whip attacks, grants 6 free CP re-rolls if he is included in your army.

keep in mind, EC are getting 'treatment' in the next PA book alongside the other non-TS and DG legions (and Black Templars).

So don't look for a EC book or update anytime soon.
Have a new generic sorcerer instead.

Efficiency is the highest virtue.

Been saying this everywhere for years! I would absolutely love to see Eidolon transition into 40k.

But will it happen? Almost certainly not. I expect Lucius will get a new model because he's Phil Kelly's lovechild and Eidolon will be left in the lore.

So long as we get some sweet Terminators/Noise Marines I'll be happy though.

Agreed, this is the most likely situation.

Yes, GW's finger on the pulse of the CSM community, that's what I needed, another generic Sorc model, I can barely contain myself...

As long as it comes with a helmet i'm happy.

In any case this is psychic awakening. Models will have something to do with the story line, so, you all know very well that the number of kits EC would need is well outside the scope of these books. Complaining that GW does have its pulse on the community for these books is just a little bit complaining for the sake of complaining, yea?

Given what you tend to be happy with you'll pardon me if I don't use this as the bar I'd like them to clear. Given your requirements, it seems they just need to avoid tripping over the bar.

Cool, what was psychic about Jain Zar? Did they introduce psychic Aspect Warriors I was unaware of? Do we suddenly have a Dark Eldar psyker? No? Thanks for reminding us how the name apparently has nothing to do with the content.

Oh, I'm aware that PA will have nothing particularly useful for CSM. A Sorcerer model was just a particularly dumb choice given the sheer variety of Sorcerer models we already have in the product line. They brought sand to the beach, thank goodness!

Except Jain Zar has everything to do with the content, which is leading strongly with Ynnari.

The six or seven units CSM just got wasn't enough? There is just no limit on the models you desire to the detriment of other factions, I guess?

MoP - don't use him, have two fully painted, always gets cut.
DA - now useful.
Greater Possessed - have two fully painted, never use them.
Venomcrawler - was trash when it was previewed, is trash now, won't bother buying one.
Lord Discordant - play it in a gimmick list that I don't expect to win, has no place in any serious list I've ever written.

So, let's see, they're 1/5, generously 2/5.

So, when you ask me to 'get happy' about a new Sorcerer model, you'll pardon me if I can't conjure up the feths to give.

I don't expect you to get happy. I just don't think demanding more really achieves anything, either. We'll see if PA2 is a shitshow or if they actually deliver this time.

I honestly don't expect new models really, although new models is apparently the only thing that prompts new rules, so I guess we don't get one without the other. But walking into my igloo expecting me to be excited when you try to sell me ice is pretty stupid.
