Subject: Painting spare/off weapons

Hey all
I'm painting some Necromunda models, and a couple have some spare weapons, including a plasma gun on a guys back.
Obviously the plasma gun wouldn't be on/loaded, whatever, as it's not in use. So, a thought occurred to me, what colour would the plasma coils be?
Tips/ideas welcome?
Thanks in advance.

I would go with a light copper color like the wire inside an incandescent light bulb.

Check out some pictures of CERN to see what colour superconducting magnets usually are. I would imagine a very bright silver.

Use classic blue or green if you want.

like what ever you usually paint it but without the extreme highlights. like a car indicator / brake light lens.

I think I'd lean copper or brass, just because.

Thanks guys.
Now that's it's been mentioned I'm thinking brass/copper would be a good colour, or perhaps a dark gold over silver. So perhaps start with Citadel Runfang or Ironbreaker and then go over that with thinned Balthasar Gold, so that the silver shows through a little more than usual. Although actually I think I have Vallejo Metal Color Copper in my paint stash so I might use that over a silver.
I've looked at some Google images of CERN and I saw one where, what I think were the magnets, looked copper.
The Plasma Gun doesn't have the whole top covered in the glowing plasma bit anyway, as it's a Van Saar Plasma Gun. So it's only really a minor detail on either side.
