I am wondering what other people think is better, should Chaos a warriors take a sword and rune-shield or simply hand weapons? It's the prospect of rerolling hits of 1 vs. a 5+ save against mortal wounds.

Currently I’d prefer the shields, as mortal wounds are everywhere and there are other ways to re-roll hit rolls. But it depends on how things change in their Battletome coming in December.

I guess it's just my FLGS then, I haven't seen a whole lot of mortal wounds being dealt except to priority units...

It will also be quite dependant on the meta of your group. If people don’t use many mortal wounds on units like them then go the duel swords. Though I think the great weapons are better if you’re gonna go for a non shield option for the extra rend. Just a shame you need an upgrade kit for them.

And again, their rules may change (though probably not all that much) in the new tome coming. There’s a possibility that the old kit will be discontinued and only these new guys with just swords and shields will be usable.

Leave their left arm off until the battletome comes out.
