Walking Dead Wraithlord

Wave serpent filled with wraithblades. (sword veriety)

Equipped with vectored engines, and bombed right up the middle of the board to threaten potential things. Withstood an entire armies worth of shooting surviving on 1W

Id have lost If my opponent ignored it and shot at my Dark reapers/backline instead.

6 wraiths are not that killy and they seem a bigger threat than they are.

Salamanders Relic Contemptor MM/HF has been pretty distracting when I bring him.

Redemptor has a huge target on it as well.

As I’ve only really played DG in 8th that goes to the good ol Foul Blightspawn.

Their potential threat far outweighs their durability though IME opponents will put far too much resources into getting rid of a single one due to the potential 18 damage one can cause in a single attack.

You always face one of two opponents with them. One that has never played one before then panics after it deletes something or someone that has faced one before and tends to overcommit. That’s why you take more than one.

Putting anything into a Wave Serpent generally is enough to force people into shooting the thing.

Plasma Redemptor. Or, weirdly, my Stormtalon. I do make a point of stressing the strafing run ability and double assault cannons it carries, which tends to focus minds. Most players assume it hits harder than it actually does.

Decimator.
The thing is a big, wannabee dread.
And therefore it must spell doom. (it doesn't it0s also quite overpriced but because of it's size it often get's priority tag NR1. )

GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.

My old metal Raveners. I use 12 Raveners most of the time, all the old mini, and even opponents who are used to fighting Tyranids and other people's (inferior) plastic Raveners prioritize them as if the fact the miniature is bigger means it's more scary...

Lord of Change with Impossible Robe and Incorporeal Form WL trait, using the Warp Surge strat (giving him an effective 2++)

It's nearly useless offensively, but people always targeted him first. It's still a pretty good Distraction Carnifex, even though it was nerfed.

My unit of 5 Shining Spears. They did in just about every single game, and do plenty of damage, but they are far more useful as a distraction. My 2 Autarchs that accompany them often do far more than those Spears

My pair of dimecharons they don’t usually do much besides draw a lot of fire, but the model is so big and scary looking that people feel they must be shot first.

My Maleceptor seems to always get prioritized over the carnifex stampede it usually runs alongside of.

I know it isnt the most effective choice but I love the model and it is pretty tough to bring down. I dont know why my enemies feel like it should die immediatly maybe because it looks big and scary, maybe because I refer to it as "Magic Beetle" all the time.

Definitely the Great Unclean One. The combination of 5++ and Disgustingly Resilient on a fairly tough monster chassis that can regain wounds via spells / stratagem means that it's sufficiently frustrating that most opponents throw a disproportionate amount of firepower at it, even though it's not that threatening.

Crusaders and an Astropath. Everyone tries to either avoid them or go waaaaay out of their way to kill them, when all I intend on doing with them is use them to block melee units.

Close second is the Hellhound. I never deploy it close to my own units, but they still focus on it turn 1 before any Tank Commanders.

A Distraction Carnifex is something that frequently attracts more attention than it really deserves, and that's one of the things that Marines feel like they're missing. The stuff that is dangerous generally all looks dangerous as well.

In fairness though it also has something to do with Marines being very common, since non-marine players can still be expected to know what's what it your army.

My Leviathan dread.

Is it dangerous? Yes. It deserves the attention it gets.
It's sacrifice allows it's brother dreads to get the job done. So congrats, you blew up my expensive FW thing. Again. Thankfully it'll re-spawn next game.
